Itinerary
- Day 1
Lhasa
Your guide will meet you at Lhasa airport and get you settled into your hotel. Since you're arriving at high altitude, you'll want to take it easy for the rest of the day and let your body adjust to Tibet's thin air. Rest and hydrate well, as altitude sickness can hit people differently.

- Day 2
Lhasa
This morning you'll head to a local handicraft center where you can try making incense, work with woodblock printing, and learn how to write Tibetan blessings. After lunch, drive over to Sera Monastery to watch monks debating (usually around 3:00pm to 5:30pm, Monday through Saturday). Later you can walk around Lhasa's streets or head back to your hotel to rest depending on how you're feeling at altitude.

- Day 3
Lhasa
Start the day at Potala Palace, the major landmark in Lhasa with ornate halls, detailed murals, and views of the surrounding mountains. From there, head to Jokhang Temple to see the statue of 12-year-old Sakyamuni. After that, stroll through Barkhor Street near the temple where locals shop for souvenirs and crafts. You'll have time to browse and pick up some local items if you want.

- Day 4
Lhasa to Shigatse
Drive up to Karol La Pass at 4,797 meters/15,738 feet for views across to Yamdrok Lake and Mount Nyenchen Khangsar. You'll also visit Karola Glacier where you can see the turquoise waters and glacier formations. The scenery on this drive is really something, and the altitude might feel noticeable, so take your time walking around.

- Day 5
Shigatse to Everest Base Camp
Leave Shigatse heading toward Mount Everest through landscape with blue skies, grasslands, and high peaks. On the way you'll stop at Rongbuk Monastery, which sits at the world's highest altitude for a monastery. Then continue on to Everest Base Camp where you'll spend the night. The drive covers significant distance but the scenery makes it worthwhile.

- Day 6
Everest Base Camp to Shigatse
Get an early start to cross Gyatso La Pass, also called the Dingri Boundary, at 5,248 meters/17,211 feet. Once you've crossed, head back down toward Shigatse during the afternoon. This day involves a lot of driving but you'll be retracing your route and spending time at lower elevations.

- Day 7
Shigatse to Lhasa
Travel back to Lhasa by train or tourist vehicle depending on your tour arrangements. Once you arrive, visit Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, which is the main seat of the Panchen Lama. Walk through the various chapels, shrines, and courtyards. The highlight is seeing the 90-foot Maitreya statue inside the distinctive red Jamkhang Chenmo building, which is quite an impressive sight.

- Day 8
Lhasa
You'll have free time in Lhasa to explore on your own, relax, or do some last-minute shopping. Later in the day your guide will escort you to either the train station or airport for your departure. That marks the end of your tour services in Tibet.
