Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Diyarbakır

    Your flight gets you to Diyarbakır whenever your schedule allows. After checking into the hotel, the rest of the day is yours to settle in and get your bearings at your own pace.

  2. Day 2

    Diyarbakır to Mardin

    Start the morning exploring Diyarbakır's Old Town, where you'll see the 10 Arches Bridge on the ancient Silk Road and the Grand Mosque. Then drive about 1.5 hours to Mardin and check in at your hotel. Your evening is free to relax or walk around and get a feel for the area.

  3. Day 3

    Mardin

    Head out to the 5th-century Deyrulzafaran Monastery, which holds significant importance in the history of the Syriac Orthodox Church. From there you'll head to Kafro Village to wander its streets and see the local Syriac architecture. Lunch includes trying the local pizza at a neighborhood restaurant. Later in the evening, dinner takes place at Cercis Murat Konak, a historic Syriac mansion where you'll try regional specialties.

    Dara - Şanlıurfa - Harran

    Visit the 5th-century Dara Ancient City, an important settlement along the Silk Road with ruins that are in good condition. You'll have a home-cooked lunch with a local family before walking through Mardin's Old Town with its narrow streets and distinct architecture. Then it's about an hour drive to Şanlıurfa to see Göbekli Tepe, which dates back to 9600 BCE, followed by a stop at Harran, one of the world's oldest continuously inhabited settlements.

    Mount Nemrut

    Travel to Mount Nemrut, a UNESCO World Heritage site with a temple complex built by King Antiochus I of Commagene in the 1st century BCE. You'll see the massive statues and the monumental tomb where Antiochus placed himself symbolically among the gods.

    Gaziantep - Halfeti - Zeugma

    The drive to Gaziantep takes about 1.5 hours, where you'll try the city's world-famous baklava. Continue on to Halfeti along the Euphrates River for lunch and a boat tour past partially submerged buildings. After that, check out Zeugma Ancient City to see Roman ruins and the detailed mosaics there.
