Itinerary
- Day 1
Kathmandu to Dhunche Bazaar to Chandanbari
The drive from Kathmandu to Dhunche Bazaar takes about 6 hours, and this is where your trek into the Langtang region officially starts. Once you arrive, you'll begin hiking uphill through thick forests filled with rhododendrons and traditional Tamang settlements. The path to Chandanbari (also called Sing Gompa) is steep in sections but manageable, taking roughly 6 hours total. By late afternoon, you'll reach the monastery perched at a higher elevation, and from there the views of the Himalayan range spread out across the horizon. It's a good spot to settle in for the night and let your body adjust to the altitude.

- Day 2
Gosaikunda
Today's trek pushes you higher toward Gosaikunda, the sacred alpine lakes. The route climbs through forests where rhododendrons grow thick, then opens into more rugged, exposed terrain as you gain elevation. Snow-capped peaks come into view as you leave the tree line behind, and the air gets noticeably thinner. Around 6 hours of hiking brings you to Gosaikunda itself, where the glacial lakes sit surrounded by rocky slopes and sparse vegetation. The landscape here feels quite different from yesterday's forested sections, and the altitude means you'll want to move slowly and rest plenty.

Gosaikunda to Dhunche Bazaar to Kathmandu
You'll head back down the same trail toward Dhunche Bazaar, which takes about 5 hours. The descent is easier on the legs than climbing, though your knees might feel it by the end. Seeing the landscape from this direction gives a different perspective on the terrain you covered. Once back at Dhunche Bazaar, you'll board your vehicle for the long drive back to Kathmandu, another 6 hours. By evening you'll be back in the city, wrapping up your time in the Langtang region.
