Calafate to El Chaltén
Your Patagonian adventure starts with a scenic drive from Calafate across the steppe toward El Chaltén. The route takes you past views of Lake Viedma and the Andes mountains, so bring a camera for the landscape. Once you arrive in this small mountain village, you'll have the evening to settle in, grab dinner somewhere local, and rest up before the hiking begins tomorrow.

Landmarks/POIs Mount Fitz Roy Cerro Torre Lake Viedma Los Glaciares National Park - Day 2
Fitz Roy & Laguna de los Tres Trek
Today is a full day of hiking to Laguna de los Tres at Mount Fitz Roy's base. You'll start early from a trailhead about 18 km from El Chaltén and work your way through lenga forests, passing the Piedras Blancas Glacier viewpoint and Poincenot Camp along the way. The final 500 m pushes upward to the turquoise lagoon where Fitz Roy's peaks reflect in the water. On the return, you'll swing by Laguna Capri and get back to town by early evening, so plan for a long but rewarding day.

Lago del Desierto Boat Excursion
This excursion takes you 37 km to Lago del Desierto for a full day of exploration. A 30-minute boat ride gets you out on the water with views of Huemul and Crestón Glaciers plus the Gran Vespignani Glacier. After that, you'll have about three hours to walk self-guided trails around the lake, with different difficulty options depending on your energy level. You'll head back to El Chaltén in the late afternoon with plenty of memories of Patagonia's wilderness.

Today you'll depart El Chaltén on a shared transfer heading either to your accommodation in El Calafate or directly to the airport if you're leaving. This concludes your time in Patagonia, so take a moment to reflect on the hiking and landscapes before you go.
