Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Inverness
You'll leave Edinburgh at 8:30 AM heading west through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, where you get to see Glen Coe's dramatic valleys and slopes. The route takes you past Fort William at the base of Ben Nevis, then follows the Great Glen corridor and continues along Loch Ness. By evening you'll arrive in Inverness for your first night in the Highlands, giving you time to settle in and grab dinner.

- Day 2
Inverness to Kirkwall
This morning you'll head north to catch views along the Moray and Cromarty Firths coastline, then board a ferry crossing to the Orkney Islands. Once there, you'll spend the day exploring the islands' distinctive landscape and wartime history, including the Italian Chapel that Italian prisoners of war built during World War II and the Churchill Barriers that protected British naval bases. It's a full day but you'll sleep on the islands tonight.

Kirkwall
You'll start with Maeshowe, a chambered tomb built over 5,000 years ago, then move on to Skara Brae, one of the best-preserved Neolithic villages in Western Europe. After that come the Standing Stones of Stenness and the Ring o'Brodgar, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites with their own quiet, atmospheric feel. The day wraps up at St Magnus Cathedral in Kirkwall, so you'll have plenty of Orkney's prehistoric story under your belt by evening.

- Day 4
Kirkwall to Inverness
Start your morning wandering Kirkwall's local shops and streets at your own pace, grabbing lunch somewhere in town. Late morning you'll board the ferry back to the mainland and drive south along Scotland's northern coast. There's a stop at the famous John O'Groats for photos, and you have the option to visit Dunrobin Castle if you want to see that French-inspired stately home. You'll be back in Inverness for another overnight stay.

Inverness to Edinburgh
You'll visit Culloden Battlefield where the last Jacobite uprising happened in 1746, then check out Clava Cairns with its Bronze Age burial chambers. There's time to stop at a local distillery if you want to try some traditional Scotch whisky, after which you'll travel through Cairngorms National Park. Later in the day you'll explore Pitlochry's shops and mountain views, then head back to Edinburgh for drop-off around 7 PM.
