Itinerary
- Day 1
Edinburgh to Islay
Start heading northwest from Edinburgh through the Lowlands, passing through some nice countryside before reaching Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. Stop in Callander for a bit, then continue into the Western Highlands toward Oban where you'll grab lunch. After that, you'll pass through Kilmartin Glen before heading to the evening ferry to Islay. Once you arrive, settle into Bowmore for your 3-night stay.

- Day 2
Islay
Spend the day exploring Islay's whisky side by visiting three distilleries. Begin at Bowmore Distillery for a tour and tasting of three drams, then head along the coast to Kilchoman Distillery for an exclusive visit and their single farm single malt tasting. After lunch, drive to Bunnahabhain, which sits as the island's most remote distillery. Get back to Bowmore by evening with free time to relax at a pub, try some seafood, or walk around the whitewashed streets.

- Day 3
Islay
Head to Islay's southern coast to check out three well-known distilleries. You'll drive through narrow roads cutting past peat bogs, green hills, and moorland. Visit Ardbeg Distillery for a guided tour and tasting of three drams, then eat a Scottish meal at the distillery restaurant with views over the coast. See the old ruins of Kildalton Church with its 8th-century cross. The second distillery depends on which day you're going: Lagavulin on Mondays, or Laphroaig on Wednesdays and Fridays.

- Day 4
Islay to Edinburgh
Make your way to Port Ellen and board the ferry back to the mainland. During the crossing, you'll get sweeping views of Islay's coastline, distilleries, and the Paps of Jura, so keep an eye out for wildlife. Once you land, stop in Inveraray for free time and lunch. Then continue east through the dramatic Arrochar Alps with a stop at the Rest and Be Thankful viewpoint, pause in the village of Luss, and drive back to Edinburgh through the Highlands and lowland areas.
