  2. Day 2

    Mexico City

    Start in the Centro Histórico, a UNESCO-listed area that's the heart of old Mexico City. Begin at Plaza de La Constitución (the Zócalo), then move to La Catedral Metropolitana and the Templo Mayor Museum to see Aztec ruins. Continue to Palacio de Correos de México, and wrap up at Palacio de Bellas Artes to see Diego Rivera's famous murals.

From there, shift over to the upscale Polanco district where you'll check out the Monument to the Mexican Revolution. Stop by the Soumaya Museum and walk down Avenida Presidente Masaryk, where you'll notice a Prague Castle statue that stands out among the shops and galleries.

    Travel to Coyoacán, a historic neighborhood south of the city center, and take the metro if you want to try it out (or grab an Uber). Wander through Viveros de Coyoacán park and explore the plazas in Centro de Coyoacán. The main draw here is the Frida Kahlo Museum in Casa Azul, where you can see the artist's home. If you're interested in cemeteries, Panteón Xoco offers a different look at local culture.
