10 Days in Mexico, incl. Mexico City and Cancun
A 10-day Mexican odyssey spans 13 cities, with 9 nights' accommodation and 2 lunches. The route includes 6 UNESCO World Heritage sites including Teotihuacan, Palenque, and Chichen Itza, plus Sumidero Canyon's boat tour, San Juan Chamula's indigenous culture, and Cuzama's cenotes.
- Days 1-3
Mexico City
Begin your Mexico adventure in the capital. Visit the National Anthropology Museum in the early morning to avoid crowds at the Aztec exhibits. Plan your Teotihuacan trip for the morning when it's cooler. The climb up the Pyramid of the Sun is challenging but rewarding. In the afternoon, visit the Guadalupe shrine when local worshippers gather.
- Day 4
Mexico City to San Cristobal
- Days 5-6
San Cristobal & Palenque
Visit San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan's indigenous communities. Remember that church photography is not allowed. "The pine-needle-covered church floors and chanting ceremonies were unlike anything I've experienced," one visitor shared. Start early on day 6 for Palenque and stop at waterfalls along the way. Pack swim gear and water shoes for the pools.
- Day 7
Palenque to Campeche
- Days 8-9
Merida & Uxmal
- Day 10
Chichen Itza to Cancun
10 Days in Mexico, incl. Mexico City and Cancun
Mexico's heritage trail connects 10 key destinations. The route includes UNESCO sites like Teotihuacan and Chichen Itza, with stays at Hotel Isabel, Hotel Kashlan, and other selected accommodations, featuring activities from pyramid climbing to waterfall swimming.
- Days 1-2
Mexico City
Start your Mexican adventure in the capital. After airport pickup and hotel check-in on day one, use day two to visit the Guadalupe Shrine and Teotihuacan pyramids. "Get to Teotihuacan early - by 8:30 AM the sun gets intense and crowds build up quickly," suggests a recent visitor. The 9-hour trip includes a workshop on pulque, a traditional Mexican liquor.
- Days 3-4
Oaxaca
Take a 6.5-hour first-class bus from Mexico City to Oaxaca. Your time here includes visits to the petrified waterfalls at Hierve el Agua, ancient Mitla ruins, and the massive 2,000-year-old Tule tree. Stop at a mezcal distillery to learn about this smoky spirit. A helpful tip from a traveler: "The ADO buses are comfortable with AC and bathrooms, but few station staff speak English - download Google Translate before your trip."
- Days 5-6
San Cristobal de las Casas
- Day 7
Agua Azul & Palenque
- Days 8-9
Merida & Chichen Itza
- Day 10
Final Transfer to Cancun
10 Day Mexico Itinerary, incl. Mexico City and Oaxaca
Rich cultural heritage emerges across 9 Mexican destinations. The route features Teotihuacan's pyramids, Querétaro's colonial center, Monte Alban archaeological site, and Sumidero Canyon, with 9 nights' accommodation, daily breakfast, and internal flight.
- Days 1-2
Mexico City
Begin your Mexican journey in the vibrant capital. Use your first day to explore the historic center. On day two, visit Teotihuacan, located 40km from the city. Get there by 8:30 AM to avoid crowds and peak heat. You'll want to climb the Pyramids of the Sun and Moon early before it gets too hot. Pack lots of water and sunscreen since the site offers little shade. You can finish your day at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Just keep in mind it gets packed on weekends and religious holidays.
- Days 3-5
Querétaro
Travel 200km from Mexico City to UNESCO-listed Querétaro. Walking through the historic center works best in early morning or late afternoon when it's cooler. The 18th-century aqueduct looks particularly beautiful as the sun sets. Take time to visit San Sebastián de Bernal to see one of the world's largest monoliths. If you visit Hacienda Atongo, wear good shoes as you'll do lots of walking.
- Day 6
Puebla
Start with the ancient Toltec capital of Tula before heading to Puebla. The historic center really comes alive at night when lights illuminate the colonial architecture. Make sure to try the local mole poblano. As one TourRadar traveler said: "The food scene in Puebla is incredible. The restaurant El Mural de los Poblanos serves the best mole I've ever tasted."
- Day 7
Oaxaca
- Day 8
San Pablo Villa de Mitla
- Days 9-10
Chiapas Region
Take a morning boat trip through Sumidero Canyon. Bring a jacket since it gets cool on the water. When you reach San Cristóbal de las Casas, take it slow. The high altitude (2,200m) affects some people. You can visit Tzotziles Indian villages for authentic cultural experiences. Remember to ask before taking photos and always be respectful.
What people love about 10-day Mexico tours
- Aztecs & Mayas
Wow, it's like travelling to a whole different world. It's highly recommended if you like ancient sites. My wife said Mexican food was the best food she tried in years... very delicious, we really loved the ancient Aztec and Mayan ruins, Cenotes, and ending in Cancun was amazing. We were given a time to meet the tour guide every day in morning, and each location had different tour guides. We felt safe. Just a word of caution, bring pepto bismol for travellers diarrhea. My wife had 3 days of diarrhea/vomiting, and I had 9 days... also bring extra underwear. I got it from drinking horchata in a rural place (Chiapas near Ocosingo) and my wife got it in Mexico City at a buffet (maybe the coffee) so maybe it really was the drink/water for Montezuma's Revenge. Overall, would highly recommend, Mexico is a wonderful place and amazing place to visit! Memories forever.
- The Taste of Mexico

- COLONIAL TREASURES OF MEXICO
Locations were excellent. Gabriella spent alot of time with me at age 75, traveling with 60 year old and 30 years old Mexicali men. She had to first speak Spanish, then English. She also took me where I was interested - political protests, Aztec Temple Mexico City. She changed schedule for me as late in afternoons I was worn out. Hotel Royal and Morelia had no English speaking staff most of the time. Hotel Royal, both rooms had mattress deflated in middle. I had trouble figuring 20 % tip based on $1800 tour cost using ATM. Told her I'd send to her when I returned home. My bank advised me against Western Union or some such device saying easily rigged. She was excellent for me, though.
