Itinerary
- Day 1
Sydney to Canberra
Start in the Southern Highlands, about 1.5 hours from Sydney, where you'll see rolling vineyards and small villages with views of the Great Dividing Range. There's a disappearing lake to check out before heading to Gold Creek Station for a BBQ lunch with sheep farmer Craig Starr. From there, continue to Canberra and walk around Parliament House grounds or take a self-guided tour if you prefer.

Canberra to Beechworth to Wangaratta
Head up Mt. Ainslie for views across Canberra's planned layout, then travel through Victoria's High Country and cross the Murray River, Australia's longest one. You'll arrive in Beechworth, a well-preserved gold rush town where you can chat with the local pub owner and have afternoon tea at the town's oldest hotel. After that, continue on to Wangaratta.

Glenrowan to Melbourne
Travel south into Ned Kelly country and explore Glenrowan, the historic town where the bushranger was captured back in 1880. Statues and museums throughout town tell his story. Then head to Melbourne for a city tour and a guided visit to the Koorie Heritage Trust to see First Peoples arts and culture. Later in the evening, you'll have time to wander through Melbourne's hidden bars, restaurants, and galleries.

Melbourne
This day is yours to explore Melbourne however you like. Hop on trams to neighborhoods like Brunswick or St. Kilda if you want Polish cakes and seaside views. Optional activities include going up the Melbourne Skydeck at Eureka Tower for views from almost 300 metres, joining a History and Donuts Walking Tour, or heading to Phillip Island to see little penguins come ashore at night.
