  • Taste of Scotland - 5 Days/4 Nights (7 destinations) reviewer 1
    · July 6th, 2025
The places visited were perfect for the whirlwind tour, and the hotels were lovely. The problem was the tour guide, who was unintelligible. He spoke too fast with his Scottish brogue and no one could understand what he was saying. It was highly frustrating. Thank god for the bus driver, Laurence, who would occasionally take over the mic when the guide wasn't around. The other complaint is that we were dropped off in both St. Andrews and Edinburgh for a number of hours without any guidance or a map and told just to meet the bus back at the drop off place. The wifi in the bus was VERY unreliable, as was the wifi in the hotels other than the Hilton in Glasgow.

This itinerary covered almost all points we wanted to see in Scotland. I would have liked to have had some time to stop at Culloden, but Heather did a nice job of explaining what happened there. Sam was an excellent driver and coordinator and Heather was a lovely guide.

It was a well run, well organized tour! Every detail is thought through and executed perfectly to make the experience a wonderful vacation for the guest! You feel very spoiled on this vacation... and very full! There is a lot of food in the meals provided, so you won't leave hungry! All the hotels were wonderful and beautiful to look at from the outside (the castle hotels). I would book another CIE tour down the road!

The hotels we stayed at were nice and the places we stopped at were very interesting. The real stars of the show though are the Tour Guide and Driver. Marie and Regine were excellent. Regine was a total star and made everything so interesting. I was raving about her to everyone when I returned home!

Overall great experience. I enjoyed all the locations and adventure that were available on this trip. The tour guides were awesome and well educated. However I didn't like how they would tell me about something but would not stop for me to see it at a pull off or anything.

Our recent Taste of Scotland tour was wonderful. We learned a lot; we had a great deal of fun; and we met several new friends. Onya was an excellent tour guide. She was pleasant, humorous, engaging, and informative. Paul was an excellent driver and his input complemented Anya's perfectly. The two of them had an effective rapport.

Tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Scotland. Enjoyed that very much. The coach was comfortable and we had a great driver. Was disappointed with the substitution in place of Loch Ness ( which was canceled due to unforseen circumstances). I understand a quick decision had to be made, but the destination was underwhelming. I enjoyed our accommodations. However, would rather have stayed in Edinburgh proper as opposed to being out in the country. Nothing to do out there, so felt like we lost an evening of activity. I would also have liked a shorter time frame for the Castle and a little more free time in Edinburgh. Everything went smoothly and I would recommend CIE to friends.
