Itinerary
- Day 1
Cochin to Alleppey
You'll arrive at Cochin International Airport and get transferred to Alleppey, where you'll check into your private houseboat. Spend the day cruising along the backwaters, watching traditional fishing nets and coconut palms line the shores as you take in the local village activity. By evening, you can either stay on deck to relax or head into town to browse the markets.

Alleppey to Kumarakom
After breakfast on the houseboat, you'll travel to Kumarakom and settle into your resort. In the afternoon, head to Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary where you'll see kingfishers, herons, and egrets moving through the trees. Before dinner, take a walk along Kumarakom Beach by Vembanad Lake, then hop on an evening boat ride through the backwaters to wind down the day.

Kumarakom to Thekkady
After eating breakfast, you'll drive about 3 hours to Thekkady and check into your resort. Later, head to Kumily, which is roughly 10 kilometers from town, to tour a local spice plantation where you'll learn how pepper, cardamom, and cinnamon get cultivated. As it gets darker, you'll visit Mullaperiyar Dam to see this engineering structure on the Periyar River.

Periyar National Park
After breakfast, you'll head out to explore Periyar National Park and the tiger reserve in the Western Ghats. You'll take a boat across Periyar Lake, keeping watch for elephants, sambar deer, and Indian bison, with the possibility of spotting a tiger. Back at the resort by evening, you'll have time to reflect on everything you saw throughout the day.
