Itinerary
- Day 1CuscoStart your morning in Cusco with a guided tour heading out to four major archaeological sites that showcase Inca engineering and history. You'll begin at Sacsayhuamán, where massive stone terraces sit high above the city, offering views and a real sense of the scale these builders worked with. After walking through the site, head down to Qenqo, a smaller ceremonial center with carved rock formations and underground chambers that tell you a lot about Inca rituals. Then you'll move on to Puka Pukara, a fortress-like structure that controlled the valley approaches, and finish at Tambomachay, a sacred spring site with intricate water channels still functioning today. Each location gives you different perspectives on how the Inca organized their landscape and resources. Back in the city later, the cathedral and Qorikancha Temple are there if you want to add more to your day and see how colonial architecture sits over Inca foundations.
