  1. Day 1

    Athens

    You'll arrive at Athens Airport where a driver meets you for the transfer to your hotel. After checking in and settling, you have the evening free to walk around and check out the nightlife at whatever pace suits you. The city's got plenty of energy once the sun goes down.

  2. Day 2

    Athens

    Breakfast comes first, then a guide walks you through the major sights including the Olympic sites and historical landmarks. From there you'll head to the Acropolis to see the architectural details, and after that the Acropolis Museum shows how pieces fit together historically. If you're interested, an optional sunset tour to Cape Sounion leaves in the evening.

    Athens

    After breakfast, this day is yours to spend however you want in Athens. You might try some traditional restaurants and just spend time soaking in the local atmosphere. Or if you'd rather be out on the water, there's an optional day cruise heading to Hydra, Poros, and Aegina in the Saronic Gulf, which includes music and a buffet lunch.

    Athens to Olympia

    You'll travel through the Peloponnese hitting several key archaeological sites: the Theatre of Epidaurus, Mycenae, and the Tomb of Agamemnon. The charming town of Nafplio gives you a chance to grab photos, and then it's on through smaller villages toward Olympia where you'll sleep, and this is where the ancient Olympic Games actually started.

    Olympia to Delphi

    Start with breakfast at the hotel, then spend time at Olympia's Archaeological Site and Museum checking out the Temple of Zeus and learning about the ancient games and their religious meaning. Later you'll head across the plains toward Delphi, passing through some smaller towns and seeing the large Rio bridge that connects the Peloponnese to the rest of Greece before arriving in Delphi.

    After breakfast, the Delphi Archaeological Site is your main stop, and it's considered the centre of the ancient world. You'll see the Oracle ruins, Temple of Apollo, the theatre, and stadium, then the museum has extraordinary pieces like the Charioteer of Delphi and Sphinx of Naxos. By late afternoon you'll head back to Athens for your last night.

    My agent Javi was very helpful and on point with the itinerary. Traveling with a legal blind person was made very easy and I felt that there was always someone there with a net if anything happen. I can't wait to take my next trip with Javi.

    My husband and I chose this tour specifically because it was by train and we could see so much. I have been on bus tours and didn’t want to spend days on a bus. We stayed in Frankfurt a couple days more at the beginning and we loved that. Old town Frankfurt is beautiful. We had one day in both Cologne and Bremen and felt it was enough. They are both beautiful though! Hamburg is a gorgeous port city. The Miniatur Wunderland is definitely worth the visit - it is incredible. And then the boat tour and hop on/hop off bus was also great to have. We felt that we saw so much in Hamburg in 2 days. Berlin has a guided tour, Potsdam and Sachsenhausen. All of these were great to see. We also went to Museum Island and saw a few of the museums too. I love WWII history so we got our fill of it here. Then Munich, I love Munich. We walked the Marienplatz and then there was the day trip to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. We paid to go inside (which is extra) and we felt it was worth seeing. I did not know that Neuschwanstein was unfinished but what is there is extravagant. We also took in several beer halls including Hofbrauhaus. I think if we had another day in Munich, it would have been better (but that’s another reason to go back!). We were in constant contact with Javi, our guide, through WhatsApp. He would answer questions and offer suggestions throughout the trip. This is also how you receive your vouchers. It was the perfect balance of being on our own and being with a guided tour. There was some confusion over the transfers from the Frankfurt airport (our flight was late and the driver had left) and train stations (we didn’t know where to go), but Javi walked us through it as it happened - minor hiccups. Overall, it was an excellent trip and we would use Eurolatino tours again to help us see more of Europe by train.
