Arrival in Tashkent
You'll fly overnight and arrive in Tashkent, then check into your hotel. After that, the rest of the day is yours to relax or wander around the city and get a feel for your surroundings.

- Day 3
Tashkent
Start exploring Tashkent's old town by visiting Barak Khana Seminary, Tila Shaikh mosque and archives. Later head to Chorsu bazaar and check out Kukeldash Madrassah. You'll attend a ceramic workshop that includes a tea ceremony, then see Amir Temur square and the famous Tashkent Metro.

- Day 4
Tashkent to Khiva
Fly to Nukus in the morning and go through the Igor Savitskiy Museum, which holds one of the world's finest collections of Soviet avant-garde art. From there, drive to Khiva and visit ancient fortresses along the way, including Chalpik Kala, Kizil Kala Fortress, Toprak Kala fortress, and Ayaz Kala.

- Day 5
Khiva
Walk through the compact and well-preserved ancient city of Khiva for about 4 to 5 hours. You'll tour the walled inner town Itchan Kala (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), seeing Kukhna Ark Fortress, IslomKhodja with its turquoise tiles, and the mausoleum of Pakhlavan Makhmud. Later visit Madrassah Rakhimkhon, Kalta Minor Minaret, and Tash Hauli Palace.

Khiva to Bukhara
Head out for Bukhara on a long drive across the desert following the historic Great Silk Road route. You'll make stops along the way to stretch your legs, and then arrive in Bukhara by evening.

Bukhara
Check out Bukhara's notable sites including the legend-filled Poi Kalon Minaret, Ark Fortress, and Bolo Hauz Mosque. During lunch at the home of one of the best suzani makers, you'll participate in a traditional cooking class and prepare 'ploy', a dish made with mutton, rice, carrots and onions.

Bukhara to Samarkand
Take a day trip out of town to visit Sitora-i-Mokhikhosa, the summer residence of the former emir, and the Bahauddin Naqshbandi Mausoleum honoring a famous Sufi spiritual leader. In the afternoon, head to the railway station to catch your train to Samarkand.

Samarkand
See Samarkand's most significant sites including Registan Square with its three beautiful madrassahs and Bibi-Khanum, the grandest Friday Mosque built during Amir Temur's era. Later you'll do wine tasting at Khovrenko Winery and visit the museum there.

Shakhrisabz - Samarkand
Travel about 80 kilometers south to Shakhrisabz, the birthplace of Amir Timur. Explore the city by visiting Ak-Sarai Palace, Dorus Tilavat cemetery, and Kok-Gumbas Mosque, then make the journey back to Samarkand.

Samarkand to Tashkent
Continue around Samarkand visiting Ulugbek's observatory, built in 1428 to 1429 by Ulugbek the grandson of Amir Temur, and the ancient settlement of Afrosiab sitting on the spurs of Chupan-Ata hills. Late afternoon you'll head to the train station to catch your train back to Tashkent.
