You'll fly overnight to Saigon and arrive in Vietnam's largest city. Depending on when you touch down, there's time to start getting a feel for the place and checking out the local culture.

Ho Chi Minh City
This morning you're heading to the Cu Chi Tunnels to learn about Viet Cong guerrilla warfare tactics. After that, lunch happens at an organic farm. From there, back to Saigon for an afternoon city tour hitting the colonial Notre Dame Cathedral, Central Post Office, Reunification Palace, and the War Remnants Museum.

Ho Chi Minh City to Ben Tre to Ho Chi Minh City
Travel to Ben Tre for a Mekong Delta cruise, paddling through palm-lined canals and seeing how people actually live on the river. You'll have lunch with typical Mekong dishes, then head back to Saigon with a stop at the historic Vinh Trang Pagoda and its gardens.

Ho Chi Minh City to Danang to Hoi An
After flying to Danang, you're transferred to Hoi An. The afternoon is for walking around this laid-back town, checking out an old merchant's house, Quan Cong Temple, the Japanese Bridge, and the busy market. There's also a stop at Reaching Out, a social enterprise craft workshop.

You'll head to Tra Que, a small farming community in the countryside, to try traditional vegetable and herb farming. Walk through gardens watching farmers work and give the farming techniques a go yourself. The afternoon is free for relaxing, shopping, exploring town, or heading to the beach.

Leaving Hoi An, you're traveling to Hue over the scenic Hai Van Pass. Once there, check out the Imperial Citadel and Forbidden Purple City to see how Vietnam's dynastic past shaped this dignified city. You'll also visit the ancient Thien Mu Pagoda, then take a cruise on the Perfume River.

Hanoi
You're exploring Hanoi's Ho Chi Minh Quarter, learning about this major historical figure and visiting his Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, and his humble Stilt House. You'll also see the One Pillar Pagoda and the Confucian Temple of Literature. By evening, a cyclo tour takes you through the Old Quarter with a stop for Vietnamese egg coffee.
