Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakech
Your driver will be waiting at Marrakech Menara Airport to pick you up and take you into the old city where your riad or hotel is located. If you land early enough, there's time to walk around the medina and get a feel for the place, or you can just head to your accommodation and relax with some Moroccan tea on the rooftop. Either way, it's a chance to settle in and start adjusting to the rhythm of the city.

- Day 2
Marrakech to Dades Valley
This is a full driving day starting early in the morning. You'll head across the High Atlas Mountains through the Tizi n'Tichka Pass, stopping to see Telouet Kasbah and then Ait Benhaddou, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site with those distinctive mud-brick structures. After that comes the ancient Taourirt Kasbah and the cinema studios in Ouarzazate. Then you'll pass through Kalaat M'gouna, known for its rose gardens, before pulling into Dades Valley by evening.

- Day 3
Dades Valley to Merzouga
Start by checking out the Dades Gorges, then drive to Todra Gorge for a short walk through the canyon. From there you'll pass through Erfoud, which has a reputation for fossils, and continue to Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara. Once you arrive, have some tea and then get on a camel for the trek into the dunes at sunset. You'll spend the night in a luxury desert camp where there's traditional music and the chance to stargaze.

- Day 4
Merzouga to Fes
Wake early to catch the sunrise over the dunes before heading back to Merzouga by camel or 4x4. The route takes you through the Ziz Valley and Midelt, where you'll have lunch. After that, drive through Azrou's cedar forests (keep an eye out for monkeys), then pass through Ifrane with its alpine feel. You'll arrive in Fes by evening.

- Day 5
Fes
Spend the day walking through Fez's ancient medina, which is a UNESCO site and basically a maze of streets and history. You can see the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Dar Batha Museum, walk through Bou Jeloud Gardens, and check out the Royal Palace. Throughout your wandering, you'll see craftspeople working with pottery, leather, and other traditional materials right there in the streets.

Fes to Chefchaouen
Leave Fes and head to the Roman ruins at Volubilis where there are impressive mosaics and columns to see. Next you'll stop in Meknes, the imperial city, to visit Bab Mansour and El Hedim Square. Then continue south to Chefchaouen, arriving in the late afternoon so you can explore the blue-painted streets. It's a nice, quieter town for walking around and taking photos.

- Day 7
Chefchaouen to Casablanca
Leave the Rif Mountains behind and drive south to Rabat. There you'll see the Kasbah of the Udayas, Hassan Tower, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Then continue along the Atlantic Coast toward Casablanca. If time works out, you can visit Rick's Café or take a walk along the Ain Diab beach promenade.

Casablanca
After breakfast, if you haven't already seen the Hassan II Mosque, there's still time. Then you'll get transferred to Marrakech where you'll be dropped at your accommodation or the airport depending on your flight schedule. That wraps up your 8-day tour through the Sahara and Morocco's main cities.
