- Jenny· July 5th, 2025Itinerary was fantastic…loved the included activities like the calligraphy, meditation, the sake tasting, biking in Kyoto, would’ve loved the sushi making if I planned my flights right :-p, but that was my bad forgetting the 16 hr time difference!!!. Our guide was enthusiastic about Japan. He got us where we needed to go, and watched our luggage at the train stations. He pointed out the kitchen area in Osaka when we were looking to find a knife to bring home. But I sometimes got the impression that he felt like the tour was as much for his enjoyment as for the guests, and there were a couple of times when I was distracted by something and asked him to repeat what he said and he was clearly annoyed. Or he was dismayed when we didn’t know something about Japan (like what Kawaii is). He also gave us the wrong information about the closing times at Kamakura shops and Kyoto tower. But overall, he tried hard to provide us with a good tour experience and succeeded. The upgrade to the private rooms that we took advantage of was well worth it (we are not 20 year olds). We were placed in hotels in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka. Still had the hostel in kamakura, and the beds were coffin-like bunks with thin mattresses that were super uncomfortable. That wasn’t just from me…another lady (there were only 3 others on our tour) had the same issue. The other hostel was perfectly fine. The guesthouse…I was a little nervous because I was told we might not have a private room but we did, and just had to share the bathroom. It was actually a really cool place to stay. Loved the onsen time! One of the hotels we stayed at had its own really nice onsen too. I was disappointed in our hotel in Osaka. We were supposed to stay at a 3 star hotel and they changed us to Arrow, which is a 2 star hotel. I tried to talk to the company ahead of time to say that this was not comparable to where we were supposed to be but they insisted that it wasn’t a downgrade. It was old and grungy, and the mattress was cheap and lumpy. It was definitely a 2 star hotel. Plus you had no choice but to lug your luggage upstairs to get to the lobby and elevator. It was a good location, but there was also an APA hotel nearby that would’ve been more “comparable” to where we should’ve stayed originally. Overall, we loved all of the sites we got to see the food we got to try, we enjoyed the other people who came on the tour, and had a fantastic time.Show more
- Georgia· July 3rd, 2025Great family tour - good coverage of the highlights of Japan mixed with spare time for teenagers to shop and look around the areas. Use and co-ordination of the excellent transport system with the luxury of a tour guide to follow and use the best routes aswell as getting the most out of all the day trips and food, local restaurants and answering any questions making this a true holiday experienceShow more
