Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Yerevan
You'll land at Zvartnots International Airport and get picked up for the drive to your hotel. Once you've settled in, spend the afternoon walking through Yerevan's center. The Cascade Complex is quite impressive with its monumental staircase, and you'll pass by the Opera House and North Avenue to get a feel for the city layout. Republic Square sits at the heart of things, so you'll likely circle back there. Before dinner, check out the Blue Mosque (it really is that striking blue color) and the Matenadaran, which holds one of the world's largest collections of ancient manuscripts in Armenian, Greek, and Persian. Head back to your hotel by evening.

- Day 2
Lake Sevan
Start with breakfast, then drive out to the Arch of Charents for views across the Ararat valley. From there, it's on to Garni Fortress and the Temple of Garni, which sits on a rocky outcrop and dates back to the 1st century AD. Afterward, you'll see Symphony of Stones, this really unusual natural rock formation made from columns of basalt that collapsed over time. The afternoon takes you to Lake Sevan, which locals call the Pearl of Armenia. It's one of the world's largest high-altitude freshwater lakes and sits at about 6,200 feet. You'll get back to Yerevan for dinner and your hotel.

- Day 3
Areni Winery
After breakfast, you're heading to Khor Virap monastery, which sits in a spot with views of Mount Ararat in the distance (weather permitting, it's snow-capped). The monastery's known for St. Gregory the Illuminator, who was imprisoned in a deep pit here for 13 years. He survived that imprisonment, and afterward Armenia officially adopted Christianity in 301 AD, which makes this place historically significant. Later, you'll drive to Areni Winery, one of the oldest wine operations in the area, and try different varieties they produce. The drive back to Yerevan takes a couple hours, giving you time to relax before your last night.
