- AMark Lehrman· November 7th, 2025The most memorable parts of the tour were the military tattoo, exploring the Scottish Highlands, and (in aggregate) learning and seeing sites of Irish history especially The Troubles. I could have done with one fewer castle and cathedral side trip. Would have liked more than 2 nights in Inverness and Derry, and therefore an additional day of exploration (by coach or by foot or by public transportation) of the area. Maybe more time at Glen Coe. Overall food was excellent (gained weight for sure), and Collette did not scrimp on group meals. Lodgings had excellent locations, which greatly enhanced the trip. We had an adequate mix of time together anf time in our own. I would have liked to spend more time in Glasgow (we got in late afternoon one day and left after a bus tour of the City Centre the next day). This was a motor coach tour. The coach stopped the right amount to stretch our legs, use facilities, and do a bit of sightseeing, eating, and shopping. Collette was helpful when our flight from Dublin to Chicago was cancelled. I loved Scotland best and all the activities were fun and enjoyable to me. There was one day that we seemed to have a really long bus day, but other than that, lots of fun stops and great information along the way. The meals and food that was provided was just wonderful and a special highlight for me was visiting the Sheep Farm and sheep dog herding experience and having lunch there.
