The vista overlooks were amazing. We especially enjoyed the brunch home tour in Faial and the traditional volcanic meal cooked underground. The meals and hotels provided were all excellent. Would have loved more time exploring Lisbon!

We really enjoyed this tour (except the heat in Lisbon) and our Tour Director, Juan was wonderful..really attuned to our needs. I loved the vineyards in Pico. I also loved the tour to Obidos, Mafra, and Ereceira.

We were a family of 13 ranging in ages from 10 to 78 in celebration of our 50th wedding anniversary. The tour included many great sites, experiences and lots of food that appealed to all ages along with enough free time to explore on our own. Our tour director, Juan Kratzmaier, was phenomenal! He was so fun and had a great sense of humor as well as being informative. He went out of his way to interact with the kids, suggested and implemented activities for them during the free time. The Azores are a hidden gem with breathtaking landscapes and lots of cultural activities.

Diverse tour with historical and visual awe inspiring experiences. Great pace of visiting 3 different Azores islands then mainland Lisbon, each offering their unique aspects or the journey. A must take trip with a local guide who can share the significance you just could not get doing it on your own.

  • The Azores Jewels of Portugal (Ponta Delgada, Azore to Lisbon) (2026) reviewer 8
    · August 8th, 2023
Overall, the tour was good. The guide was excellent and four of the five hotels were excellent. The included activities were generally good although it would have been nice if some of the optional tours were included as standard. The buses weren’t always comfortable and one had no air conditioning which was very uncomfortable. The hotel in Pico was not acceptable. The staff were lovely and the food was excellent but my first room was damp and I was unable to sleep due to the stifling heat and dampness. The ‘upgraded’ room was still quite damp and stifling but the main issue there was the cockroaches in the room. The location was also disappointing as it was so very far from the nearest village and there was nothing to do in the local area. Several people on the tour developed respiratory illnesses in this hotel. I have photographs of the plaster peeling from the walls due to the dank conditions. Faial was excellent and should very definitely remain part of the tour. The two days in Pico could be removed, an added day could be added to Terceira and Faial and leave Pico as a day trip. Overall, I was quite satisfied with the tour but would have liked more activity like hikes or extended walks and less time spent on the bus.
