Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Naples to Sorrento

    You'll meet the tour group in Naples at 11:30 AM, then head to Pompeii by private minivan. Once there, you can wander through the archaeological site at your own pace and see the preserved ruins. From there, continue on to Sorrento for check-in at your accommodation. In the late afternoon, there's an orientation walk through the old town where you'll pass by local shops and cafes to get your bearings. The evening is open for you to relax and settle in, or you can join the optional welcome dinner if you'd like.

    Capri

    Board a shared boat in Sorrento heading to Capri, and your guide will share details about the island's history during the sail. Once there, you can spend the day however you'd like—swim on the beach, walk around town, visit the Blue Grotto, or take the chairlift up Mount Solaro for views back toward the coast. In the afternoon, sail back toward Sorrento and take a refreshing swim at a natural pool near some ancient ruins as the sun starts setting.

    Travel along the Amalfi Coast, one of Italy's most impressive coastal drives. Stop in Amalfi to see the cathedral, relax on the beach, or try some local specialties. Continue on to Positano with its colorful houses built into the hillside and a pebble beach where you'll have several hours to swim, explore the narrow streets, or check out boutiques. Return to Sorrento with your evening free to find a restaurant with views or wander around further.

    Sorrento - Naples - Florence

    This morning you'll leave Sorrento and travel north to Naples for an orientation walk with your guide. You'll see important spots like Piazza del Plebiscito and the San Carlo Theatre to understand the city's character. After that, you have free time to hunt down authentic Neapolitan pizza for lunch wherever looks good to you. In the afternoon, board a high-speed train heading to Florence. Once you arrive and check in, your guide will take you on a walk through the historic centre with views of the river. The rest of the evening is yours to explore on your own, find a place for dinner, or join the optional traditional Florentine aperitivo if that interests you.

Spend time walking the narrow lanes, taking in sea views, browsing shops, going on coastal walks for panoramic vistas, or eating fresh seafood with local white wine. Return to Florence in the evening.

    The tour leader Sara was great. Very communicative and nothing was too much trouble. Sara looked after us very well. Local tour guides were generally good except for Rome where he was a bit boring. The biggest issue we have is the Hotel Giosue a Mare in Sorrento. We were very disappointed to stay at a hotel near the water and have a view of a rock wall half a metre from our window. We know other people in our group had balconies and water views. We requested a move to a different room but the rude woman at reception refused. Also, another couple in our group were moved out of their nice room to an inferior room for the third night supposedly because the shower needed repairs but they said the shower worked just fine. I think the hotel staff play favorites. We suggest you drop this hotel from you list.

    This Outlander tour was wonderful. It was booked with Rabbies which was excellent. The group was a group of 15 people which I liked. The bugs driver/ tour guide Lizzie was fantastic. Super sweet and chock full of stories and knowledge. The itinerary and overall organization was good. I felt we did a lot more Outlander heavy stuff on day 1 and day 4 which I loved. In the town of Falkland, we had dinner and further spend much time exploring there and got tons do some photos but that felt a bit rushed and this town I looked forward to see while area small, I wanted to soak in a bit more. We entered all castles with no issues as 99% of them came pre booked or were free to enter with exception of midhope castle. The accommodations provided were both excellent in my opinion. I was very happy where I stayed and had a full Scottish breakfast at both places. During the tour there were plenty of times bathroom breaks and a lunch break. The tour bus was easy to find in Edinburgh with the instructions provided and we were dropped off same location with ease. I highly recommend.
