Colombo to Kandy
Touch down in Sri Lanka and make your way to Kandy, the country's last royal city. Once you arrive and check into your accommodation, start walking around to get a feel for the place. The colonial architecture lines the streets, and after you've explored a bit, head to Queen's Pub Royal to grab a drink. The 19th-century atmosphere there gives you a real sense of the city's history.

Kandy
This morning you'll hop in a tuk tuk and drive through Kandy's landscape to reach the Temple of the Tooth. The whole experience feels quite spiritual and different from typical tourist spots.

Ambuluwawa Tower
Head out early for a day trip to Ambuluwawa Tower, which sits about 30 km outside Kandy in green hills. The white spiral tower stands out against the landscape. You can climb up to the top for 360-degree views of the surrounding area, or if climbing isn't appealing, you can just walk around the grounds and take in the scenery from below.

Kandy to Colombo
Leave Kandy behind and travel to Colombo, Sri Lanka's capital city. After you check in, start exploring the temples and landmarks scattered throughout. Gangaramaya Temple holds hundreds of Buddha statues, the World Trade Center towers dominate the skyline, and the red-and-white Jami-Ul-Alfar Mosque stands out with its striking color. You'll cover a lot of ground today.

Colombo

Later, head to Galle Face Green Promenade to watch the sunset, and grab some street food like samosas and hoppers from local vendors along the way.

Colombo to Weligama
