Itinerary
- Day 1
Deer Lake to Corner Brook
You'll land in Deer Lake and pick up your rental car right away. From there, it's about an hour and a half drive west to Corner Brook, where you'll spend your first night. This gives you a chance to settle in and get oriented to Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Day 2
Corner Brook to Port au Choix
Today you're heading north to Port au Choix on the northwest coast. The drive takes around three hours, and once you arrive, you'll be in a historic fishing village with roots going back 5,500 years. The community shows how people have adapted to life along this rugged coastline for millennia.

Landmarks/POIs Port au Choix National Historic Site - Day 3
Port au Choix to Labrador
This morning you'll take the ferry across the Strait of Belle Isle into Labrador. After crossing, you'll visit Red Bay National Historic Site, a UNESCO World Heritage location featuring the remains of a 16th-century Basque whaling station. You'll see artifacts and structures from when these skilled whalers operated here. Then you'll drive to your accommodation in Labrador for the night.

Landmarks/POIs Red Bay National Historic Site - Day 4
Labrador to L'Anse aux Meadows
You'll return to Newfoundland by ferry and make your way to L'Anse aux Meadows National Historic Site in the north. This UNESCO site is where Vikings settled over a thousand years ago, and it's recognized as the first known Viking settlement in North America. Walking through the recreated Norse structures and museum gives real perspective on early exploration.

St. Anthony to Gros Morne National Park
Early morning means heading out on a whale watching boat tour from St. Anthony. You'll have a good chance of seeing humpback and minke whales in the Labrador Current. After the tour, you'll drive south to Cow Head in Gros Morne National Park, where you'll stay for two nights. Early summer is prime time for spotting icebergs too.

Landmarks/POIs Gros Morne National Park - Day 6
Gros Morne National Park
You'll spend the day exploring Gros Morne National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A scenic boat tour on Bonne Bay takes you out where you might see bald eagles and get views of the Tablelands, those distinctive flat-topped mountains that are actually exposed sections of the earth's mantle. It's geological and visual drama all at once.

Cow Head to Deer Lake
Time to head back to Deer Lake, where you'll return your rental car and catch your flight home. The drive takes about two hours from Cow Head, so you'll have the road to yourself for reflection on a week filled with history, natural features, and coastal culture.
