Itinerary
- Day 1
Cusco
You'll arrive in Cusco and meet a G Adventures representative at your hotel for a welcome briefing. If you've booked the cooking class ahead of time, plan on a pickup around 12:30 that takes you to a local market and restaurant where you'll prepare and eat a traditional Peruvian meal, getting back by 16:00. Without the cooking class, the afternoon and evening are free to get settled and rest after your arrival.

- Day 2
Sacred Valley
This is a full-day guided tour through the Sacred Valley. You'll stop at a G Adventures-supported women's weaving co-op to see traditional weaving and dyeing, then visit a local pottery-making community. Lunch happens at the Parwa Community Restaurant in Huchuy Qosco, where your money supports the community. After eating, you can either hike up to the Ollantaytambo storehouses for views over the ruins or walk the cobblestone streets and try a Chicheria corn beer bar.

- Day 3
Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes
Take a morning train that cuts through the Urubamba Valley for roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes down to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. You'll have the afternoon and evening to explore on your own. Some people soak in the local hot springs, others wander through the market picking up souvenirs or snacks. It's a good chance to walk around and get your bearings before heading up the mountain the next day.

- Day 4
Machu Picchu
You start early to see the sunrise at Machu Picchu, the historic Incan site and spiritual center. After a bus ride up to the site, an expert guide takes you through, and then you have time to explore on your own. Later you catch a train back to Ollantaytambo, where a private vehicle picks you up for the drive back to Cusco.

Cusco
Your day in Cusco is completely free. Wander through the local market, check out nearby archaeological sites, or if you pre-booked, take the full-day hike to Rainbow Mountain.

Landmarks Cusco Rainbow Mountain - Day 6
Puerto Maldonado to G Lodge Amazon
You fly to Puerto Maldonado in the Amazon lowlands. After leaving your large bags in town, you drive to the pier and travel by covered motorized boat through the Tambopata Rainforest to G Lodge Amazon. Along the way you'll spot river and forest birds. After settling in, your naturalist guide leads a night walk where you learn about local plants, wildlife, medicinal herbs, and traditional forest knowledge.

- Day 7
Amazon Jungle
Starting early, you walk slowly through the forest looking for wildlife, then head out by canoe to an oxbow lake to search for anaconda, giant river otter, or black caiman. You'll definitely see birds and other animals even if the larger creatures stay hidden. Later you can relax in a hammock, swim in a local spot, or visit a nearby plantation. After dinner, you go on a caiman-spotting cruise.

Tambopata to Lima
After an Amazonian breakfast, you travel back to the airport by motorized boat and van, then fly to Lima. Your evening is open if you want to go out for dinner or have Pisco Sours to celebrate finishing your trip.
