Itinerary
- Day 1
Oberstdorf
Your guide meets you at the hotel at 3 pm to kick off the Alpine crossing. You'll walk through Oberstdorf, a popular vacation spot on the northern side of the Alps, and then head to a cozy inn for dinner with the group.

Kleinwalsertal to Holzgau
This morning you hike the first stage along old Walser trails, starting from Kleinwalsertal valley and moving through Bärgunttal valley up to Hochalp Pass at 1,938 m/6,358 ft. The Lechtal Alps views are great along the way. After descending to Hochtannberg Pass, you continue to Warth, where a short bus ride gets you to your accommodation.

Hahntennjoch to Imst to Umhausen
After breakfast, a cab takes you to Hahntennjoch to start hiking into the rugged Lechtal Alps. You climb to Scharnitzjoch at 2,441 m/8,009 ft, then descend through scree and meadows to Muttekopfhütte at 1,934 m/6,345 ft. From there you head via Drischlsteig to the cable car station, ride down to Imst, and transfer to your hotel.

Umhausen to Sölden
Starting right from your hotel, you hike past Ötzi village toward Stuibenfall, the highest waterfall in Tyrol at 159 m/522 ft. You climb up via bridges and steps next to the falls to Tauferberg, then cross the high plateau above Ötztal valley, passing stone formations and caves. The Wiesle inn is a nice stop before you head back down into the valley.

Sölden to St. Leonard/St. Martin in Passeier
This is the highlight hike on the famous E5 trail to Timmelsjoch at 2,474 m/8,117 ft, the week's highest point. You cross the main Alpine ridge here, moving from North Tyrol into South Tyrol and from Austria into Italy. The views of the Central Alps are really something. After a good rest, you descend south into Passeiertal valley through a high mountain area to Hochfirst inn, then transfer to accommodation.

St. Leonard/St. Martin to Merano
A short transfer takes you to the Merano High Mountain Trail, one of South Tyrol's well-known high-altitude walks. You pass remote farms and rustic inns on your way to Hochmuth summit at 1,400 m/4,593 ft for great views above Merano. The cable car brings you down to Dorf Tirol to visit Tirol Castle, then the chairlift floats you down to Merano. Celebrate with a walk along the lakeside promenade and a glass of South Tyrolean wine.
