Itinerary
- Day 1
Yaoundé
You'll arrive in Yaoundé and your driver meets you at the airport for the transfer to your hotel. Depending on when you land, you might have time to rest up or start exploring right away. The National Museum is worth checking out if you're interested in learning about Cameroon's history and different cultures. The building itself is housed in what used to be a presidential palace, so there's some history in the architecture too.

Yaoundé to Fombot
This day is full of cultural sites. You'll start at the Reunification Monument in Yaoundé, which marks Cameroon's 1961 reunification. From there, head to Batoufam Chefferie to see traditional governance structures and the region's famous wooden masks. Later you'll visit Metche Waterfalls, a place that holds sacred meaning for local communities. By evening you'll drive to Fombot and check into your hotel after a pretty full day.

Foumban
The Foumban region is your focus today. Start at the Foumban Museum to see royal artifacts, regional art, and local traditions. The local market has handmade items like jewelry, textiles, and other crafts worth browsing through. During the afternoon, you'll visit Bororo Muslim villages to learn about this Fulani subgroup. They're traditionally nomadic herders with circular homes and a cattle-based economy, and you'll get to see the weaving skills the women are known for.

Foumban to Douala
Today takes you to Ekom Nkam Waterfall, one of Cameroon's most impressive natural sites. The waterfall drops over 80 meters into a rocky basin and sits surrounded by tropical rainforest. It actually appeared in the Greystoke Tarzan film. After spending time at the falls, you'll continue driving toward Douala, Cameroon's largest city, and settle in for the evening at your hotel.

Douala to Kribi
You'll drive to Marienberg, a small riverside town, and visit the Marienberg Church, a colonial-era building from the early missionary period. Then you'll board a boat and travel to Pongo Songo, which is a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. You get a rare chance to observe these primates in their natural environment. After that, you'll head by road toward Kribi, a coastal town known for its beaches and laid-back atmosphere.

Kribi
Start your morning at Kribi's fish market, where local fishermen bring in fresh Atlantic catch. It's a good way to see how coastal life works here. Next, head to Lobe Waterfalls, which are unique because the water flows directly into the Atlantic Ocean, one of very few places in the world where this happens. Take a boat on the Lobe River to get close views of the 30-meter-high falls and the rainforest around them. Later you'll have free time to relax on the beach and swim in the warm Atlantic waters.

Douala to Bangui
You'll fly from Douala to Bangui today. Depending on your flight time, you might have a few hours to explore Douala's markets or grab a meal before heading to the airport. If you arrive in Bangui with some daylight left, you could take a short walk through the city, stop by a local café, or simply unwind after traveling. This is essentially a transition day between two different parts of your trip.

- Day 8
Bangui to Mbaiki
After breakfast, you'll head to the port and board a traditional pirogue for a four-hour journey down the Oubangui River to Zinga. You'll see lush river scenery and get glimpses of how people live along the water. Zinga is a tiny town, only about one kilometer long and 300 meters wide, but it has French colonial heritage. The remnants of a railway built in the 1920s are still visible there. Later you'll drive to Mbaiki and stay in a basic bungalow or Catholic missionary guesthouse in this quiet riverside community.

Mbaiki to Bangui
Today you'll visit a Baka village to experience the lifestyle of this indigenous forest community. The Baka are traditionally semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers with deep knowledge of the rainforest and its resources like wild fruits, honey, and medicinal plants. You'll see their distinctive dome-shaped huts called mongulu. There's a traditional dance performance featuring polyphonic singing, rhythmic drumming, and body movements that tell stories and honor spiritual traditions. After that, you'll drive back toward Bangui through the scenic Central African landscape.

Boali Waterfalls
You'll take a day trip to Boali Waterfalls, about 80 kilometers from Bangui. Water cascades over rocky cliffs into deep pools, making this one of the most impressive natural sites in the Central African Republic. The Boali Hydroelectric Plant is also there, using the waterfall's power to generate electricity for the region. You can explore the falls, take photos, and hike around the area to see how nature's power works. You'll return to Bangui in the afternoon.
