  Active tour with a good mix of urban and rural sightseeing and accommodations. Our guide, Toshi, was knowledgeable and sincerely interested introducing us to japanese culture and tradition through the sights and foods of the regions visited. and took excellent care of his “flock” as he guided us there to perhaps come back again.

  The accommodations were good the food was excellent and the tour was exactly what I wanted it was an active tour that we spent most of our time out doors and in smaller cities and towns Our tour guide Toshi was excellent

  Trip ran smoothly. Guide treated everyone nicely. He helped people with big luggage and made sure all got back to hotel safely. Eric was helpful and caring to us all.

  Got to see lots of Japan. Was really pleased to see some of the smaller cities (Takayama, Nikko and Hakone) as these would be places you may not go to if not on a guided tour.

  The tour leader was excellent and the itinerary was good so as a solo traveller I loved it! The trip could be done a lot cheaper independently but I don’t think I would have learned as much about the culture without the tour leader

  I LOVED the GUIDEhe was A+ His love and interest and KNOWLEDGE was one of the best I have had.The holidays made it difficult in the end of trip to visit certain restaurants and Pease Museum so that was a bummer.Darn 4 day holiday at News Years, does not happen in US so I had no idea.BUT it was IDEAL timing for me to travel and I heard others say the same thing.But the cost vs the off season seems like it was expensive.I paid a lot and it was off season.Also for me I was with 2 families and a couple that I felt as an individual traveler made it difficult to make friends they had their unit.GREAT thing was there were 3 of us that did not have others with us.Without those two people my trip would have been terrible because I would not have had anyone to hangout with.I think I need to upgrade to the comfort trip I guess I would like to understand the difference better.

  I would recommend Intrepid based on the group size and the ability of the tour to deliver real and local experiences of the countries culture to its clients.

  I find Japan a daunting place to travel - lots of rigid social rules and my inability to communicate in Japanese make it harder than most. Alain Sabourin did an excellent job of leading the trip - coping with the logistics relatively seamlessly, and remaining cheerful and willing to help throughout.
