Itinerary
- Day 1
San Jose
Your German-speaking guide will be waiting at San Jose airport to pick you up and drive you to your hotel. Once you arrive, settle in and get comfortable for your first night.
- Day 2
San Jose to Arenal
In the morning, head to Ecocentro Danaus nature conservation center where a guide will show you local biodiversity, tropical plants, and animals. Later you'll travel to Arenal and see the volcano from a distance. Before dinner, relax in the hotel's thermal pools and spend the night there.

- Day 3
Arenal to Sarapiqui
After a short drive to Arenal National Park, you'll hike for about 1.5 hours along ash-covered paths over cooled lava with Lake Arenal views. Then it's a drive through Muelle and Aguas Zarcas to an organic coffee finca at 750 meters where you'll learn how coffee is made and taste freshly brewed coffee. The drive continues to Sarapiqui lodge where you'll have a chance to plant your own tree.

- Day 4
Sarapiqui
Don Rodolfo at Finca Sura in Chilamate de Sarapiqui will walk you through citrus, manioc, sugar cane and pineapple plantations using natural methods. Before lunch, you'll plant your own pineapple seedling. In the afternoon, take a short walk through Tirimbina Rainforest Reserve to spot monkeys, sloths, coatis and birds, then learn about cocoa production and taste chocolate before heading back to the lodge.

Sarapiqui to Tortuguero
Start early heading via Horquetas to Guapiles, then continue to La Pavona or Caño Blanco to see banana production and learn about the crop from your guide. After that, board a boat for a scenic river and canal tour past natural islands heading to Tortuguero National Park. In the afternoon, visit the village of Tortuguero itself.

- Day 6
Tortuguero
Wake early for a guided canal tour through Tortuguero National Park where you'll observe wildlife and listen to jungle sounds, watching for crocodiles and monkeys. Later, walk along lodge paths with your guide through the forest. After a break, take another boat tour through the canals. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore on your own.

Landmarks Tortuguero National Park - Day 7
Tortuguero to San Jose
After breakfast, start your return trip to San Jose with a final boat ride back to the jetty where you can see the local biodiversity one last time. Then board a bus to Guapiles for lunch, and continue on to San Jose where your tour ends.
