Itinerary
- Day 1
Arrival in Guiyang
You'll fly into Guiyang and get transferred to your hotel. After you settle in, the rest of the day is open for you to check out the city on your own. Wander around the streets, grab dinner somewhere local, or head to the night market if you're interested in seeing what's there.

- Day 2
Guiyang
Following breakfast, a local guide takes you through Guiyang's central square where you'll catch the morning disco dancing and practice sessions happening with residents. Then you'll transfer to Old Han Village where people wear traditional Han costumes. You'll see a private Ground Opera performance with hand-made masks and get to learn how these distinctive masks are actually made. The afternoon and evening are free.

Guiyang to Kaili
You'll head from Guiyang toward Kaili, stopping at Tonggu Village along the way. There, local Miao women show you their watercolor paintings of everyday scenes, and you can try this traditional painting style yourself. Once you reach Kaili, the cultural heart of the Miao people, you'll visit the Kaili Museum to see exhibits about the region's ethnic groups, with photographs, historical artifacts, and traditional costumes on display.

Kaili to Zhenyuan
Start by walking through Kaili's busy local market in the backstreets where you'll see fresh produce and handmade goods sold by vendors. At Wenxiang Village, an embroidery expert teaches you intricate embroidery techniques and you'll try creating your own piece. Later in the afternoon, you transfer to Zhenyuan, an old town on the Wuyan River. You'll check out the remarkable Qinglong Cave, an ancient Taoist Buddhist temple complex, then stop at Shuangjing Village to see the traditional art of paper cutting.

Zhenyuan to Leishan
Your day begins at Black Dragon Cave, a Taoist Buddhist temple complex. You'll take a leisurely walk through the ancient town of Zhenyuan with its well-preserved buildings, narrow alleys, and views along the river. In the afternoon, you transfer to Leishan. You'll visit Datang village where the short skirt Miao people live, then Langde village known for long skirt Miao women with embroidered skirts, and Paika Village to learn about Lusheng pipe making. You'll meet a craftsman and make your own Lusheng pipe.

Leishan to Guiyang
After breakfast, you hike for roughly 2.5 hours through lush terraced rice paddy fields at Baiyan Village, learning about how traditional farming techniques work. You'll visit the peaceful Xiangshuiyan Waterfalls to relax and take photos. Next, you head to a Gejia village, a Miao subgroup, to watch the intricate hand-made batik dyeing process. You'll stop at a traditional mill house by the river to see ancient grain milling techniques and learn about incense making. Then you transfer back to Guiyang.
