Itinerary
- Day 1
Guiyang
You'll fly into Guiyang and get transferred to your hotel once you land. From there, the afternoon and evening are open for you to explore on your own terms. Grab some food at a local spot, wander through the streets, or check out the vibrant night market if you're up for it.

- Day 2
Guiyang
After breakfast, head to Guiyang's central square where locals do morning disco dancing in the early hours, so you can join in if you feel like it. Then you'll go to Old Han Village to watch a private Ground Opera performance by amateur villagers wearing traditional hand-made masks, and you'll learn how these masks get made. The rest of your day is free to relax however you'd like.

- Day 3
Guiyang to Kaili
You're heading toward Kaili, which is really the cultural center for the Miao people. Along the way, you'll stop at Tonggu Village to create watercolor paintings with local Miao women, with scenes from their daily lives as inspiration. Once you reach Kaili, the Kaili Museum gives you a look at the region's different ethnic groups through photographs, artifacts, and traditional costumes on display.

- Day 4
Kaili to Zhenyuan
Start by walking through Kaili's busy local market to get a feel for everyday Miao culture. Then you'll head to Wenxiang Village to work with a skilled embroidery expert, learning traditional techniques and making your own piece. After that, you're transferring to Zhenyuan where you'll stop at Shuangjing Village to see traditional paper cutting, then explore Qinglong Cave, a Taoist Buddhist temple complex that dates back to 1530.

Zhenyuan to Leishan
Early on, check out the Black Dragon Cave, a Taoist Buddhist temple complex from the 16th century. After that, take a stroll through the ancient town of Zhenyuan to see the preserved buildings, narrow alleys, and views along the river. By afternoon you're heading to Leishan, where you'll visit Datang village to learn about the short skirt Miao people, then Langde village to see the long skirt Miao women and their embroidered skirts. Before the day ends, you'll stop at Paika Village to learn Lusheng pipe making and make your own.

Leishan to Guiyang
After breakfast, you're hiking for roughly 2.5 hours through terraced rice paddies near Baiyan Village while learning about traditional farming techniques. Next, the Xiangshuiyan Waterfalls give you a peaceful spot to relax and take photos. Then you'll see a Gejia people's village where intricate batik dyeing happens, and you'll stop at a traditional mill house by the river to watch grain milling and learn about incense making before heading back to Guiyang.
