Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Bergen

You'll land in Bergen and pick up your campervan, ready to start exploring. Norway's public access laws mean you can park and sleep pretty much anywhere in nature, so the choice of where to spend your first night is entirely yours. Head out and find a spot by the sea or with a fjord view, wherever appeals to you most.

  2. Day 2

    Bergen to Stavanger

Cook breakfast in your camper's kitchenette before heading south toward Stavanger. You've got two route options here: the North Sea coastal drive takes you through islands and across bridges with fjord views, while the inland route through Folgefonna National Park offers something different. Either way, you'll end up in Stavanger's old town with its colorful buildings and laid-back vibe.

    Optional Activities

    • Cycle the eastern route past Folgefonna National Park
    Landmarks
    Stavanger
    Folgefonna National Park
  3. Day 3

    Preikestolen Hike

This is the big hiking day. Get up early and pack provisions and proper boots for the four-hour round trip to Preikestolen rock plateau. The hike builds gradually to a 600-meter vertical cliff that drops straight into the Lysefjord, and the views from the top make the effort worthwhile. Once you're back at your camper, rest up and take it easy for the evening.

    Included Activities

    • Hike to Preikestolen rock plateau
    Landmarks
    Preikestolen
    Lysefjord
  4. Day 4

    Roldal

Drive toward Roldal along the Sauda route, which takes you through snow-covered peaks, clear blue lakes, and green valleys. Plan time for several photo stops along the way. Once there, visit the ornate stave church that Roldal is known for, with its intricate wooden details and historic character.

    Included Activities

    • Visit Roldal stave church
    Landmarks
    Roldal Stave Church
  5. Day 5

    Trolltunga Hike

Take on Trolltunga, one of Norway's most challenging and rewarding hikes. The trail gets progressively harder but the views keep getting better, with steep slopes and Ringedalsvatnet lake stretching out below. The rock formation that gives the hike its name is the payoff at the end, and it's worth every step of the effort required to get there.

    Included Activities

    • Hike to Trolltunga rock formation
    Landmarks
    Trolltunga
    Ringedalsvatnet
    Itinerary Image 1Itinerary Image 2Itinerary Image 3
  6. Day 6

    Hardangerfjord and Vøringsfossen

Drive north along the Hardangerfjord, stopping frequently to take photos of the deep blue water and surrounding scenery. Visit Voringsfossen waterfall, where water crashes down in two dramatic drops surrounded by mountains. The sheer scale of the place and the power of the water make it a memorable stop on your route.

    Included Activities

    • Visit Vøringsfossen waterfall
    Landmarks
    Hardangerfjord
    Vøringsfossen
  7. Day 7

    Viking Village and Steinsdalsfossen

Check out the Viking Village in Gudvangen, where people actually live while recreating traditional Norse lifestyles. You can try activities like archery or other crafts to get a feel for how things worked back then. After that, head to Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, where you can walk right behind the curtain of water without getting soaked. Find a good spot with a view to park for the night.

    Optional Activities

    • Viking Village in Gudvangen with craft activities and archery
    • Steinsdalsfossen waterfall walk-behind experience
    Landmarks
    Gudvangen Viking Village
    Steinsdalsfossen
  8. Day 8

    Bergen Return

Drive back to Bergen and return your campervan. Head into the city center and consider taking the Floibanen funicular up Mount Floyen, which climbs almost 400 meters and gives you sweeping views across the city's colorful rooftops and the fjord. Walk through Bryggen, the medieval Hanseatic district, where narrow streets connect old wood-paneled boathouses painted in reds, yellows, and blues.

    Optional Activities

    • Fløibanen funicular ride to Mount Fløyen summit
    Landmarks
    Mount Fløyen
    Bryggen
  9. Day 9

    Bergen City and Departure

Take a morning walk along Bergen's harbor to soak in the fjord views and take photos of the colorful buildings. Stop at the fish market, which has everything from fresh salmon to other seafood options. If you have time, the Ulriksbanen cable car goes to the summit with more fjord views, and you can hike back down to the city on foot. Then it's time to head to the airport and depart.

    Included Activities

    • Walk along Bergen harbor
    • Visit Bergen fish market

    Optional Activities

    • Ulriksbanen cable car ride to Ulriken summit
    • Hike down from Ulriken to the city

The trip was well organized. Unfortunately, the mountain railroads in Narvik and Tromsø were not in operation for a long time, which we would have liked to have known beforehand. The travel vouchers were delivered very close to departure.

We had a great time during this trip, everything was perfectly organised and went as expected. I would not necessarily recommend sleeping in the cold room at the Ice hotel, since you can anyway visit the rooms, but the hotel itself was great, with awesome excursions and the warm rooms are very comfortable. Tromso was also really beautiful and I wish I could have stayed there a bit longer!

Very well organized, we landed in Dublin at 07:30 and were in our car at 08:30. The hotels were all very well chosen. We were very happy with our trip and can only recommend it to others.
