Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Kathmandu to Lukla to Phakding

    Your journey starts with an early morning flight from the domestic airport to Lukla. The 45-minute flight offers incredible views of scattered settlements below and the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Once you land at this historic airstrip, you'll trek through Chauri Kharka and walk alongside the Dudh Koshi River, passing the sacred peak of Khumbila. By evening, you reach Phakding, a small Sherpa town tucked in a green valley where you'll stay at a local tea house.

  2. Day 2

    Phakding to Namche Bazaar

    The day takes you through Rhododendron and Pine forests while following the Dudh Koshi River. You'll spot Mt. Thamserku and catch glimpses of Mt. Everest rising above the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge. At the Sagarmatha National Park entrance, your permits get checked before you climb uphill to Namche Bazaar. The mountain views here are really something. You'll settle into your tea house and have time to explore the town and get your bearings.

  3. Day 3

    Namche Bazaar

    Today focuses on acclimatization while your body adjusts to the thinner air. You'll wake before dawn and head to a vantage point to watch the sunrise paint the Himalayas. Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde, and Lhotse show different colors as light hits them. After lunch, you trek to Thami village above the Bhote Khola River Valley. Stop at the Sagarmatha National Park headquarters to learn about Sherpa culture and the region's wildlife. Return to Namche as evening light settles over the peaks.

  4. Day 4

    Namche Bazaar to Tengboche

    An easier day on relatively level terrain, you'll walk along a ridge route from Namche toward Chhorkung to reach a viewpoint. From here, panoramic views stretch from Thamserku to Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest. The trail continues to Kyangjuma and the junction at Sanasa before descending toward Tengboche. Tall rhododendrons line the path, and you'll cross a suspension bridge along the way. After checking into your tea house, you can explore the famous Tengboche monastery.

  5. Day 5

    Tengboche to Dingboche

    After breakfast, you'll follow the Imja Khola trail climbing toward Shomare. The landscape shifts as you cross the tree line and terrain becomes more arid with scattered conifers and scrub vegetation. You'll pass through grazing lands and isolated stone huts at Orsho and Tsuro Wog. The trail then descends toward where the Imja and Khumbu Khola rivers meet before climbing a low ridge. Dingboche, your destination, is a sprawling hamlet known for cold nights and strong winds at this elevation.

    Dingboche to Dughla

    You'll trek across a high pass through rugged mountainous terrain with peaks surrounding you on all sides. Mt. Pumori and several snow-capped summits come into view as you ascend. The landscape here is dramatic and quite different from the lower elevations. You reach and explore Dughla, a small settlement nestled among towering mountains where you can rest and take in the scenery.

    Dughla to Lobuche

    The day takes you through high Himalayan country with mountains on every side. From Dughla, you walk through Dusa with its herders' empty stone huts before returning to Dughla and continuing to Chupki Lhara. Here, large stone heaps decorated with prayer flags serve as memorials for mountaineers who died on Mt. Everest and other peaks in the region. You'll see the pristine blue waters of Chola Lakes and walk along Khumbu glacier moraine with views of Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Pumori. By evening, you reach Lobuche.

    Lobuche to Everest Base Camp to Gorak Shep

    This is a long and physically demanding day, so you'll start early. You trek through high Himalayan pasture lands and grassy terrain with rocky areas. You'll climb about 200 feet up the Changri glacier's lateral moraine wall at Thangma Riju for 360-degree views of peaks including Taboche, Lobuche, and Pumori, plus views toward Tibet and Nuptse. After crossing steep stony slopes across the Changri and Khumbu glacier moraines, you reach Gorak Shep. You'll catch your first look at Kala Patthar, then trek to Everest Base Camp to walk beneath the world's highest peaks before heading back to Gorak Shep.

  9. Day 9

    Kala Patthar to Pheriche

    Start early after a light breakfast and head to Kala Patthar, a famous viewpoint. The route follows steep zigzag trails through the wide sandy bed of a dried lake. You'll see Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse as you climb higher, and the Khumbu glacier and Nuptse massif come into fuller view. At Kala Patthar's summit, endless rows of high mountains spread before you, including Mt. Everest itself. After taking in the views, you'll retrace your steps to Gorak Shep and then continue down through high mountain country to Pheriche, passing through several villages along the way.

    Pheriche to Namche Bazaar

    After breakfast, you begin the descent from the high mountain country back toward the lush woodlands. Following the downward trail, you'll make your way back to Namche Bazaar. After a brief rest, you have time to explore the settlement. Check out the various pubs and restaurants in town, grab a meal, and pick up any items you might have missed on the way up.

    Namche Bazaar to Lukla

    Your final trekking day starts by following the Dudh Koshi past various settlements and monasteries as you trek down to Lukla. The descent gives you time to reflect on the journey and the landscape gradually changes as elevation decreases. Once you reach Lukla, you'll celebrate your last night in the mountains with your guides and fellow trekkers at a local establishment.

    Lukla to Kathmandu

The final payment will be automatically charged to your credit card on the designated due date. The final payment of the remaining balance is required at least 65 days prior to the departure date of your tour. TourRadar never charges you a booking fee and will charge you in the stated currency.
