You'll land in Nuuk after flying from Copenhagen and connect with your guide at the hotel for a welcome briefing. The guided city tour takes you through the National Museum, then over to Kolonihaven where 17th and 18th century houses still stand. You'll see Hans Egede's house and check out the traditional Brættet market to get a sense of local life. After lunch, you'll head out on a scenic boat trip across Nuukfjord where the dramatic mountains come into view, and if conditions are right, you might spot icebergs. After flying from Nuuk to Ilulissat, you'll transfer to your hotel which overlooks Disko Bay. Your guide leads an information session to get oriented, then you'll take a guided walk through Ilulissat, Greenland's third largest town. The route covers the harbor area, local food market, Knud Rasmussen's birthplace, and the historic wooden Zion Church while your guide explains the town's 1741 founding and what Greenlandic culture looks like today. You'll head back to the hotel for a welcome dinner.

Starting early, you'll hike to the former Sermermiut settlement on the ice fjord to explore what remains from 4,000 years of Inuit habitation. The ruins and animal remains give perspective on how people lived here, and you can actually feel the permafrost. Later in the day, a special boat trip takes you among massive icebergs in the ice fjord where the midnight sun hits them in unusual colors. Pack heavy layers or consider renting a sealskin suit since the water and air temperature around the icebergs stays cold year-round.

If you choose the glacier trip, the boat stays for roughly two hours watching ice calve into the fjord while lunch is provided. Travel time runs between two to five hours each direction depending on which boat gets used.

The colorful houses and seasonal landscape colors stand out here, and hunting and fishing remain central to life. You can relax on the terrace watching the village, or wander around on your own before dinner in a restored colonial building.

I liked the itinerary and it was as described. The tour guide and bus driver did a great job. The only thing to criticize is that no microphone was used on group excursions. This meant that it was often impossible to understand explanations unless you were very close. With a larger group, this can cause crowding. Sometimes it was annoying to spend so much time on the bus. However, on a coach trip with a described route, this is not a shortcoming of the trip itself. I would book through them again if it comes up.

All bookings such as hotel, ferry and national park worked perfectly. The route was very well chosen. Due to the late opening of the season, some parks were not or only partially open.
