  2. Day 2

    Tel Aviv - Yaffo - Caesarea - Haifa - Acre - Nazareth

    After breakfast, head south along the Mediterranean coast through Yaffo's artists' quarter, then continue to ancient Caesarea to see the Roman theatre and Crusader fortress. From there, drive up Mount Carmel in Haifa to visit the Bahai Temple and gardens. Later, stop in the medieval Crusader capital of Acre before arriving in Nazareth for dinner.

    Nazareth - Sea of Galilee - Magdala - Mount of the Beatitudes - Tabgha - Capernaum - Nazareth

    Start with a boat trip on the Sea of Galilee, then visit the remains of Magdala and its Synagogue. Head to the Mount of the Beatitudes where the Sermon on the Mount took place, then move on to Tabgha at the site of the multiplication of loaves and fishes. After that, explore Capernaum to see the House of Saint Peter and ancient Synagogue ruins before returning to Nazareth for dinner.

    Nazareth - Cana of Galilee - Jerusalem

    This morning, walk through Nazareth visiting the Church of the Annunciation, Saint Joseph's Carpentry, and the Fountain of the Virgin. Head to Mount of the Precipice for panoramic views, then visit Cana of Galilee where Jesus performed his first miracle. In the afternoon, travel through the Jordan River Valley and the Jericho oasis toward Jerusalem, passing Mount of Temptation and views of the Dead Sea as you ascend through the Judean desert.

    Spend the day exploring Jerusalem's new city including the Shrine of the Book at the Museum of Israel, a model of Jerusalem in Jesus' time, and the Hebrew University. Check out Ein Karen's neighborhood and the Shrine of Saint John the Baptist. See Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and Memorial. In the afternoon, cross into Bethlehem to visit the Church of the Nativity, the Grotto of the Manger, and Shepherds' Field with a Palestinian guide before returning to Jerusalem.

Continue to the Roman archaeological site of Jerash before arriving in Amman for the night.

    Visit the archaeological site of Petra, accessing it through a narrow canyon to discover temples and tombs carved into red cliffs. After lunch, head to the desert of Wadi Rum and board 4x4 vehicles from the Visitor Centre to explore desert landscapes, including a 45-minute camel ride and a visit to Khazali Canyon with ancient Arabic language engravings. You'll spend the night in a desert camp.

    Overall our trip was very good. The logistics, at times, were not well handled. Our airport pick up in Tel Aviv was not there and we had to wait for him. The process of crossing the border between Israel and Egypt was very confusing and the guide did not give good assistance. Neither of these guides spoke English very well making it all the more difficult. Our tour guide in Israel was very knowledgeable but often said things to us regarding our not having a son and marrying off our daughters to a Jewish man that were offensive and degrading. Our group was mixed English and Spanish. He did not know that one of us spoke Spanish and he often gave important information in Spanish but did not give it to us in English - such as a change in time of pickup one morning. I would give him a poor rating at best. Our guides in Egypt, Mr. Cesar and Wael, were fantastic! They went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed every minute of the trip to the fullest. I cannot say enough good things about them.
