Lisbon
A guided city tour takes you through Lisbon's historic neighborhoods across the seven hills, walking through charming alleys and seeing the iconic blue tiles everywhere. You'll visit Belem, where Portuguese navigators set sail back in the 15th century. The afternoon opens up for you to check out Bairro Alto and its viewpoint on your own, or you can take an optional excursion out to Sintra, Cascais and Estoril if you want. Everything wraps up back at Restauradores Square.

- Day 3
Lisbon to Madrid
You'll head out early from Portugal through the Alentejo region. There's a coffee stop in Estremoz, a medieval town with cobblestone streets that's quite charming. After that, you continue into Spain and arrive in Caceres for lunch, where you can walk through the well-preserved medieval and Renaissance center. Later you travel on to Madrid, getting there as evening comes around.

- Day 4
Madrid
Your guide takes you through central Madrid on a comprehensive tour covering Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Puerta de Alcala, Plaza de Colon, and Plaza Mayor. You'll see Retiro Park and its lake plus the Palacio de Cristal. Entry to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid's home, is included. By afternoon, you're free to go off and explore the city however you like.

You travel through Castile into Aragon, stopping in Zaragoza to see the Cathedral-Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar. Next comes Poblet Abbey, one of the world's best-preserved medieval monasteries, with admission already covered. Then it's on to Barcelona, arriving as evening settles in.

A guided tour shows you Barcelona through Gaudi's modernist buildings, the busy Ramblas, and the city's layered history. You'll leave in the evening and head north into Catalonia, making a stop in Girona where you walk the historic center with its colorful houses, the old Jewish quarter, and the cathedral. You'll settle into your hotel there.

Girona to Chambery
You travel through Provence to Arles, a UNESCO World Heritage city famous for its Van Gogh connections. There's time to see the Roman theater and Romanesque churches, and lunch is part of the afternoon. Later you experience an underground art show at Carrieres des Lumieres, which is set inside an old quarry. You'll end up in Chambery, a medieval-style city, by evening.

You cross into Switzerland and arrive in Geneva. The day includes Palais des Nations (Europe's UN headquarters), the English Garden with its flower clock, and the Jet d'Eau fountain. Then you head to Gruyeres, a charming walled village known for its cheese. Maison Cailler Chocolate Factory offers a tasting experience. Chillon Castle on Lake Geneva shores is included with entry. You'll arrive in Leysin, a holiday village with views of the Rhone Valley and Mont Blanc.

Leysin to Zurich
Mountain scenery surrounds you as you take a cable car up to Glacier 3000, one of Switzerland's top spots with ice, snow year-round, a bridge suspended between peaks, an Ice Cathedral, and a fun park. Lunch happens in Interlaken. After that you travel to Lucerne and then on to Zurich for the evening, with time to check out the center.

- Day 10
Zurich to Milan
You leave Zurich early, crossing the Alps into the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. In Bellinzona you explore three UNESCO World Heritage medieval castles sitting on hills above the city. Then it's into Italy for a lunch stop in Como, Lombardy's jewel with beautiful lakeside gardens and a cathedral. You continue to Milan, where your guide shows you the impressive Piazza del Duomo and you get time to wander around.

You head to Pisa and ride a small tourist train to Piazza dei Miracoli, the Square of Miracles, where you have time to take in one of Italy's most notable art complexes including the famous Leaning Tower. From there you continue to Rome, arriving later in the day.

- Day 12
Rome
A three-hour guided tour combines walking through Imperial Rome with a panoramic bus ride past the Arch of Constantine, Colosseum exterior, Imperial Forums, Circus Maximus, Baths of Caracalla, Basilica of Saint Mary Major, Pyramid of Cestius, and Castel Sant'Angelo. The tour finishes at Vatican City around 11 a.m., and there's an optional visit to Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel if you want. That evening you get transferred to Trastevere for dinner options, and you'll be back at your hotel around 8:30 p.m.

You leave Rome heading north through beautiful landscapes and arrive in Florence. Piazzale Michelangelo gives you expansive city views. Walking toward the historic center, there's lunch time built in, then a guided walking tour with a local expert covers Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and Piazza della Signoria. Afterward you're free to check out the city however you like, and there are plenty of dinner options around the district that evening.

With a local guide you visit St. Mark's Square, then stop at the Murano Glass Factory to see how traditional Murano glass gets made. You'll have free time to explore on your own, and you're staying in the Mestre district.

Salzburg
Salzburg, Mozart's birthplace, gets explored with its Renaissance and Baroque center and the grand castle dominating the skyline. You travel through lakes and mountains to St. Wolfgang, known as a pilgrimage site, then continue to Traunkirchen by Traunsee Lake. An included lake cruise shows you four of the lake's castles before you disembark in Gmunden. From there you head to Vienna, arriving in the evening.
