- Day 1
Casablanca to Fes
You'll touch down in Casablanca where the Hassan II Mosque is yours to see if your timing works out. From there, it's a drive toward Fes with a stop at Volubilis, those Roman ruins that sit on a UNESCO World Heritage list. Once you reach Fes, you'll settle into a traditional riad and get a feel for the Moroccan architectural style surrounding you.

Fes
A local guide takes you through Fes on foot, walking the narrow medina alleys where you'll see intricate mosaics and traditional palaces. Fes to Merzouga
Heading south toward Merzouga takes up most of the day. You'll pass through cedar forests in the Middle Atlas where Barbary macaques sometimes show up, then cross Tizi n'Talremt pass into the Ziz Valley with its oases and palm groves. After stopping in Erfoud, you reach Erg Chebbi and ride a camel into the dunes, then climb a nearby ridge for sunset before settling in at camp with dinner and a fire.

Merzouga to Dades Valley
Wake early to catch sunrise over the sand, then try sandboarding if you want to test yourself out. Later you'll head to Khemliya village to see traditional Saharan life, then push on to Tinerhir and the Todra Gorge where you can wade in the cool river. By evening, you're settled in the Dades Valley for the night.

Dades Valley to Marrakech
This drive takes you through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs where families still live and nomads pass through with their animals. Stop in Kelaa M'gouna to see the rose fields, then head to Ouarzazate for a film studio tour showing where movies were shot. After that comes Ait Benhaddou, the 11th-century UNESCO site, where you can climb to the old granary for views. The day ends descending into Marrakech through the High Atlas.

Marrakech
A guided walk around Marrakech starts at the Koutoubia Mosque with its distinctive minaret, then you wander the medina souks looking for souvenirs. You'll grab lunch at a local spot in the medina, and the day finishes in Djemaa el Fna square where street performers, musicians, and food stalls create the energy Marrakech is known for.
