Itinerary
- Day 1
Zwingenberg
You'll start cycling through forests and small historic communities, beginning with Dreieichenhain where half-timbered buildings line the streets and you can see the remains of a water castle. From there, it's on to Kranichstein to check out its hunting castle sitting right beside a calm lake. The route takes you through Rosenhohe park next, where you'll find mausoleums throughout the grounds. By the end of the day, you'll reach Zwingenberg and get views of vineyards rolling down the Odenwald hillsides.

Lorsch to Heidelberg
Cycling continues to Lorsch where you can see the Torhalle, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site from the Carolingian period and what remains of the old monastery. After that, you'll head to Heidelberg to walk through the old town, check out the gothic Church of the Holy Spirit, and take photos from the Old Bridge. Later, you'll use the scenic rack railway to get up to Heidelberg Castle, where you'll get panoramic views across the entire city below.

Schwetzingen to Rhodt
The cycling route moves through the Rhine region, starting at Schwetzingen's 18th-century castle grounds which represent important European horticultural design. You'll then cycle to Speyer to see the Romanesque cathedral, the largest intact example of its kind and a UNESCO World Heritage site. After that comes the wine town of Roth with its vineyards, and you'll finish at Villa Ludwigshöhe situated in rolling terrain.

Rhineland to Worms
Today follows the Pfalzer Weinstraße through wine-growing villages in the region. You'll stop at Deidesheim, which is the largest wine-producing town here, and see its historic buildings including a bishop's palace and residences from noble families. Continuing on, you'll reach Worms to explore the Romanesque cathedral and visit the historic Jewish cemetery, which ranks among the oldest in Germany.

Worms to Mainz
Cycling takes you through gentle hills and vineyards toward Oppenheim, known for its gothic St. Catherine's Church. You can explore the mysterious catacombs underground through a guided tour. Then you'll cycle to Mainz, the state capital with 2000 years of history including ancient Roman remains and one of the significant Romanesque domes along the Rhine. The rest of the day moves through other wine-producing towns along the river valley.

Mainz to Frankfurt
You'll pedal across the Theodor-Heuss-Bridge, which connects Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse where the Main river flows into the Rhine. Passing through the wine town of Hochheim on the way, you can see where Riesling grapes grow in the area. From there, follow the tranquil river back toward Frankfurt. At the end, try a traditional Frankfurt specialty, Handk\u00e4s mit Musik (marinated cheese), and have some local apple wine in the Sachsenhausen district.
