Itinerary
- Day 1
Manchester to Keswick
Head north from Manchester toward the Lake District, and you'll pass through some really nice scenery on the drive. Stop in Ambleside to get your bearings, then continue up to Kirkstone Pass where there's a chance to grab photos of the surrounding landscape. From there, make your way to Ullswater and take a walk out to Aira Force waterfall, which is a short but worthwhile hike through the area. After you're done there, drive over to Friar's Crag to spend some time looking out over Derwentwater, especially if the light is good. By evening, you'll arrive in Keswick where you're staying for the night.

Keswick
This morning starts at Castlerigg, where you can walk around standing stones that date back over 5,000 years, which gives you a real sense of history in the area. Drive to Grasmere afterward and check out Wordsworth's Dove Cottage along with the gardens attached to it. Then head to Lake Windermere for a 45-minute boat cruise that's included with your tour, giving you a different perspective of the lake. Later, stop by the Langdale Boulders and spend time in Hawkshead village before heading back to Keswick for the evening.

Keswick to Manchester
Start the day driving through the Cumbrian countryside, passing Crummock Water and Buttermere along the way. You'll climb through Honister Mountain Pass and stop at an old slate working to see how the landscape was shaped by the quarrying. Stop at Bowder Stone, which is pretty massive, then head back to Keswick for lunch. In the afternoon, take a walk along the shore of Ullswater and enjoy the water and mountains. After that, drive back south toward Manchester with a final stop in Kendal before heading home.
