Itinerary
- Day 1
Marrakesh to Ouarzazate
An early morning pickup gets you on the road toward the High Atlas Mountains, and you'll pass through the Tizi n'Tichka pass with views of the surrounding peaks. After that, the route takes you to Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO village where the mudbrick kasbahs create a distinctive landscape you can walk through and photograph. From there you continue to Ouarzazate to see the Taourirt Kasbah and check out the local movie studios that have been used for film productions. Later in the afternoon, you're driving through the Dades Valley and past Kelaat Mgouna before reaching Boumalne Dades for the night, so you'll have time to settle in and rest.

- Day 2
Boumalne Dades to Merzouga
Leaving the kasbah behind, you head toward the Sahara with a stop in Tinghir to get a sense of daily local life and wander the streets. Next comes the Todra Gorges where you can hike through the canyon if you're interested, then you're traveling through increasingly dry terrain toward Erfoud. Lunch happens in Erfoud, and afterward you visit the fossil museum to see what's been found in the region. From there, a local guide takes you through Rissani, and by late afternoon you're starting a camel trek into the desert, arriving at a Berber camp where dinner and the desert night atmosphere are part of the experience.

- Day 3
Merzouga to Marrakesh
This morning starts early so you can watch the sunrise from one of the sand dunes, and breakfast follows back at camp. After eating, you trek back by camel to Merzouga where there's time to shower and change clothes. Then you're driving back toward Marrakesh using a different route through the region, passing through various small towns and different landscapes along the way, so the journey back offers different scenery compared to how you came.
