Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Punta Cana to Jarabacoa

Your hotel pickup in Punta Cana gets the adventure rolling as you head toward Jarabacoa in the mountainous interior. The drive takes you through changing landscape until you reach a local ranch where you'll get oriented. The real highlight here is the Caribbean's highest swing, perched around 1,200 meters above the valley floor with incredible views stretching out below. After that rush, you'll walk to Baiguate waterfall and then check out Umbrella Street with its colorful buildings and local shops. The day wraps up with you settling in for the night in Jarabacoa.

    Breakfast

  2. Day 2

    Jarabacoa to Pico Duarte

This morning you pick between two action-packed options. Canyoning in Baiguate Canyon starts with a 30-minute walk, then you're abseiling down, swimming through pools, and jumping off rocks. A zip-line crosses the canyon before you tackle a 30-meter abseil right at the waterfall base. If rafting appeals more instead, you'll paddle the Yaque de Norte river with its mix of rapids while passing through thick vegetation and towering cliffs on both sides. By afternoon, transportation moves you toward Pico Duarte for a three-night mountain hut stay to start your big climb.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Dinner

    Included Activities

    • Canyoning in Baiguate Canyon with equipment (abseiling, swimming, jumping, zip-lining, 30-meter waterfall abseil) OR Rafting on Yaque de Norte river with varied rapids

  3. Day 3

    Pico Duarte Hike (Ascent)

Your ascent of Pico Duarte begins with a personal guide, pack mules carrying supplies, and a riding mule that's yours if you want it. The trail goes through spruce forests and crosses streams at whatever pace works for you, and you can hop on the mule whenever your legs need a break. You're heading toward a mountain station at a high elevation for the night, so the day involves steady climbing but nothing rushed or forced.

    Meals
    Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    • Guided hike up Pico Duarte with personal guide, pack mule, and riding mule
    • Option to hike or ride mule through spruce forests and streams

    Pico Duarte Summit

From the mountain station, you push to the summit of Pico Duarte, which sits at approximately 3,101 meters and holds the title of highest peak in the Caribbean. The national park around you comes alive with exotic birds and wildlife to spot along the way. Once at the top, the views open up in all directions before you make the descent back down to the mountain station where you'll spend another night.

    • Scenic views from summit

  5. Day 5

    Pico Duarte to Jarabacoa

The hike down from the mountain station brings you back into the valley, and you'll finish by early afternoon with plenty of daylight left. Back at your hotel in Jarabacoa, you spend the rest of the day unwinding and taking time to process the mountain experience you've just completed.

    Meals
    Breakfast

    Included Activities

    • Guided hike down from mountain station to valley
    • Return transfer to hotel in Jarabacoa
  6. Day 6

    Jarabacoa to Punta Cana

What does 'not available in your region' mean? Could it mean they don't want to offer the tour to people from North Carolina or that they're not offering the tour at all?

    • MEIERS WELTREISENOperatorWritten April 2025

The tour is only bookable for the German-speaking market, as MEIERS WELTREISEN is a Germany based operator that exclusively offers its tours within the German-speaking market.

Perhaps they could just say that in the tour description? It would save a lot of back and forth as the existing phrase just causes confusion.
