Punta Cana to Jarabacoa
Your hotel pickup in Punta Cana gets the adventure rolling as you head toward Jarabacoa in the mountainous interior. The drive takes you through changing landscape until you reach a local ranch where you'll get oriented. The real highlight here is the Caribbean's highest swing, perched around 1,200 meters above the valley floor with incredible views stretching out below. After that rush, you'll walk to Baiguate waterfall and then check out Umbrella Street with its colorful buildings and local shops. The day wraps up with you settling in for the night in Jarabacoa.

A zip-line crosses the canyon before you tackle a 30-meter abseil right at the waterfall base. If rafting appeals more instead, you'll paddle the Yaque de Norte river with its mix of rapids while passing through thick vegetation and towering cliffs on both sides. By afternoon, transportation moves you toward Pico Duarte for a three-night mountain hut stay to start your big climb.
