  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Willemstad

    You'll land in Curaçao and get driven to your hotel in Otrobanda. There's an information meeting with your tour guide that includes a welcome cocktail, then the evening is free for you to walk around and get familiar with the area on your own.

    Maritime Museum and Punda District

    After breakfast, you'll head to the Maritime Museum to learn about the Netherlands' role in the transatlantic slave trade and Curaçao's colonial past, with talks from the museum directors. Then walk through Punda's historic streets to Fort Church, where your guide covers Curaçao's relationship with the Netherlands. By evening, you'll walk back to Otrobanda and cross the famous Pontjesbrug, also called Queen Emma Bridge.

    Otrobanda District and Kura Hulanda Museum

    After breakfast, architects and restoration specialists will guide you through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Otrobanda, explaining how they've preserved the centuries-old colonial buildings. You'll see the 'Kaya Kaya' pop art project that's turning abandoned structures into colorful street art. The Kura Hulanda Museum shows you the history of the Afro-Curaçao population, the African tribes brought through the transatlantic slave trade, and explores slavery in detail. Your afternoon is open to either continue exploring the district or relax back at your hotel.
