Asunción
You'll get picked up at the airport and head to your hotel in Asunciónfor the afternoon. From there, wander around this capital to see the mix of modern and colonial architecture. The city blends Spanish and Guaraní cultures, so you'll find plenty of local spots to check out and get a feel for the place.

- Day 2
Asunción
This morning starts with a panoramic tour that shows off Asunciónís architectural styles. You'll see the Independence House, Metropolitan Cathedral, Government Palace, and National Pantheon of Heroes. Then head to La Recova, the popular handicraft market. After lunch, the afternoon is yours to shop or do whatever you'd like on your own time.

Asunción to Encarnación
After breakfast, grab your bag and head to the bus terminal in Asunciónto catch a regular bus to Encarnación(about 5 hours). Once you arrive and check in, visit the Jesuit Ruins of Trinidad del Paranáand Jesús de Tavaranguéthe same day. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites where you can see the art and culture created by Jesuit missionaries and local communities in the jungle.

- Day 4
Encarnación to Ciudad del Este
Pack up your hotel room and board another regular bus from Encarnación to Ciudad del Este. The trip takes several hours, and when you arrive you'll go through the border crossing, then get transferred to your hotel. This city sits right where Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil meet at the tri-border area.

- Day 5
Ciudad del Este
Start your morning on the Brazilian side of Iguazu Falls to see panoramic views of more than 20 waterfalls cascading down. Later, after lunch somewhere nearby, head to Bird Park which has over 900 birds from 150 different species. About one-third of the birds here are at risk of extinction, making it an interesting spot. You'll return to your hotel by evening.
