- Day 1
Arrival in Sicily
Your flight touches down at Catania airport, and from there you'll head southwest toward Ragusa, a hilltop town perched in southeastern Sicily. Once you settle into your accommodation, take some time to wander through the old town's winding alleyways and grab your first Sicilian meal to get a real feel for the local food.

Ragusa to Marzamemi
Ragusa has two distinct personalities to discover. Start in Ragusa Superiore on the hilltop where geometric streets and panoramic mountain views give you the layout of the whole area. Then head down to Ragusa Ibla below, where baroque architecture and narrow streets create a different vibe entirely. Later, jump in your rental car and drive east to Marzamemi, a coastal fishing town where colorful boats sit in the harbor and sun-soaked streets lead you toward the water.

Marzamemi to Castelvetrano
Today you'll drive along Sicily's Mediterranean coast heading toward Agrigento. Make a stop at the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where ancient Greek ruins include the nearly intact Concordia Temple. After that, head to Scala dei Turchi to see dramatic white terraced cliffs dropping down to turquoise sea. By evening, you'll settle into Castelvetrano for the night.

- Day 4
Zingaro Nature Reserve
Spend your day in nature at the Zingaro nature reserve, a seven-kilometer coastal stretch between Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo. Various hiking trails cut through hilly terrain and lead you to hidden beaches, caves, and Mediterranean plants and wildlife. Later in the afternoon, head to San Vito Lo Capo's beach where the water is clear and the sand is fine, giving you time to cool off and relax after your hike.

- Day 5
Palermo
You'll arrive in Palermo, Sicily's capital, and check out its key landmarks starting with Quattro Canti square where baroque facades frame the intersection. See the Fontana Pretoria with its marble sculptures and the impressive Palermo Cathedral. From there, head into the Ballarò market, a chaotic authentic space filled with fresh produce, seafood, and street food vendors selling everything from arancini to fresh pasta.

- Day 6
Palermo
You have options today. Either explore the Norman Palace to see its magnificent gardens, round arches, and interior decorations, or take a short train ride to Cefalù, a beach destination on the Tyrrhenian coast with golden sand and petrol-colored Mediterranean water perfect for swimming. A leisurely beach day gives you time to soak it all in.

Palermo to Salina
Drive to Milazzo port and take the ferry to Salina, an island gem in the Aeolian Islands with just 26.8 square kilometers of area. After you check in, walk around the island or rent a Vespa to explore at your own pace. The island's known for its viticulture and caper harvests, so you'll come across both as you move around.

Monte Fossa delle Felci
This morning you'll hike Monte Fossa delle Felci volcano starting from Valdichiesa. The trek takes about two hours uphill through fern forests on steep paths, but the panoramic views from the 962-meter summit are worth it—you'll see Monte dei Porri volcano, the Mediterranean, and nearby islands stretching out below. Later, take the bus to Pollara to see dramatic coastal rock formations and swim in the sea.

Salina
Salina doesn't have traditional beaches, but there are coastal swimming spots worth finding. Rent a Vespa and head north to the village of Malfa for a walk through its alleyways and a swim at Spiaggia del Scario, a rocky bay. Check out Rinella beach with its distinctive black sand. Try a granita at Pa.Pe.Ro restaurant—it's ricotta sorbet with candied capers, a local specialty.

Salina to Regalbuto
Check off any remaining activities on Salina in the morning or spend more time at the island pool. Then take the ferry back to Milazzo and collect your rental car. Drive inland along the east coast toward your accommodation near Mount Etna—you'll see the volcano throughout the drive as a constant presence. Explore the town and pick a restaurant for a traditional Sicilian dinner.

Mount Etna and Taormina
Head to Mount Etna, Italy's most famous volcano. You can join a guided hike (optional but bookable in advance or on site) to safely walk through lava fields and reach higher elevations. Watch the active crater for possible smoke emissions. From there, travel via Taormina where dramatic views of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea frame an ancient theater that makes for perfect photographs.
