Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival in Sicily

Your flight touches down at Catania airport, and from there you'll head southwest toward Ragusa, a hilltop town perched in southeastern Sicily. Once you settle into your accommodation, take some time to wander through the old town's winding alleyways and grab your first Sicilian meal to get a real feel for the local food.

    Landmarks
    Ragusa
  2. Day 2

    Ragusa to Marzamemi

Ragusa has two distinct personalities to discover. Start in Ragusa Superiore on the hilltop where geometric streets and panoramic mountain views give you the layout of the whole area. Then head down to Ragusa Ibla below, where baroque architecture and narrow streets create a different vibe entirely. Later, jump in your rental car and drive east to Marzamemi, a coastal fishing town where colorful boats sit in the harbor and sun-soaked streets lead you toward the water.

    Included Activities

    • Self-guided exploration of Ragusa Superiore and Ragusa Ibla

    Optional Activities

    • Photo opportunity at blue restaurant chairs in Regina Margherita Square, Marzamemi

  3. Day 3

    Marzamemi to Castelvetrano

Today you'll drive along Sicily's Mediterranean coast heading toward Agrigento. Make a stop at the Valley of the Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where ancient Greek ruins include the nearly intact Concordia Temple. After that, head to Scala dei Turchi to see dramatic white terraced cliffs dropping down to turquoise sea. By evening, you'll settle into Castelvetrano for the night.

    Included Activities

    • Visit to Valley of the Temples archaeological site

    Optional Activities

    • Guided tour of Valley of the Temples (bookable online in advance)

  4. Day 4

    Zingaro Nature Reserve

Spend your day in nature at the Zingaro nature reserve, a seven-kilometer coastal stretch between Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo. Various hiking trails cut through hilly terrain and lead you to hidden beaches, caves, and Mediterranean plants and wildlife. Later in the afternoon, head to San Vito Lo Capo's beach where the water is clear and the sand is fine, giving you time to cool off and relax after your hike.

See the Fontana Pretoria with its marble sculptures and the impressive Palermo Cathedral. From there, head into the Ballarò market, a chaotic authentic space filled with fresh produce, seafood, and street food vendors selling everything from arancini to fresh pasta.

You have options today. Either explore the Norman Palace to see its magnificent gardens, round arches, and interior decorations, or take a short train ride to Cefalù, a beach destination on the Tyrrhenian coast with golden sand and petrol-colored Mediterranean water perfect for swimming. A leisurely beach day gives you time to soak it all in.

Drive to Milazzo port and take the ferry to Salina, an island gem in the Aeolian Islands with just 26.8 square kilometers of area. After you check in, walk around the island or rent a Vespa to explore at your own pace. The island's known for its viticulture and caper harvests, so you'll come across both as you move around.

The trek takes about two hours uphill through fern forests on steep paths, but the panoramic views from the 962-meter summit are worth it—you'll see Monte dei Porri volcano, the Mediterranean, and nearby islands stretching out below. Try a granita at Pa.Pe.Ro restaurant—it's ricotta sorbet with candied capers, a local specialty.

Very well organized, we landed in Dublin at 07:30 and were in our car at 08:30. The hotels were all very well chosen. We were very happy with our trip and can only recommend it to others.

The island hopping was an all-round successful vacation for me, which I would love to repeat. The trip combines the lively, green Madeira with the quiet beach paradise of Porto Santo. I particularly enjoyed the well-organized excursions, such as the jeep safari or the guided hikes. The accommodation was also very pleasant and the transfers between the islands ran smoothly. Overall, this trip is ideal for anyone looking for variety, nature and relaxation - I would recommend it at any time and would book Journaway for other round trips. Top!

I don't even know where to start - we simply had a wonderful time on Crete and Santorini! Above all, this trip had everything you could wish for in a round trip: City tours through Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania (we personally liked Chania's old town the best), truly fantastic beaches (Balos!!!) and of course Santorini. And all this with a completely smooth organization. Thank you for this great vacation! :)
