Itinerary
- Day 1
Launceston
You'll arrive in Launceston, Tasmania's second-largest city situated on the Tamar River. If your flight gets in early, there's quite a bit to do before meeting your Travel Director. Consider taking a boat cruise through the Tamar Valley or Cataract Gorge, walking along the cliffs where bushland transitions into Victorian gardens, or riding the scenic chairlift for water views. Later you'll meet your Travel Director for a drink and introduction to the group.

Bicheno
Start the day at Bridestowe Lavender Estate, the southern hemisphere's largest lavender farm, and walk through fields of purple rows. You'll taste lavender ice cream and local honey produced by the 500,000 bees on the property. After that, head to Legerwood to see the Carved Memorial Trees, which were sculpted to honor fallen WWI soldiers. By evening you'll drive to Bicheno where you can watch the little penguins come ashore at dusk.

Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park is the focus today. The Hazards Range shows pink hues in early light with brilliant blue water curved into perfect coves. You'll take a relaxed lunch cruise around Wineglass Bay, seeing Cape Tourville's eucalypt forest from the water. The whole experience gives you time to really absorb the landscape and coastal beauty of this part of Tasmania.

Richmond - Iron Creek Bay
Head south to the Derwent River where a local palawa host welcomes you and shares bush tucker knowledge. You'll then explore the historic village of Richmond, checking out the convict-built gaol and bridge or browsing shops. After that, tour Old Hobart Town, a model village showing what Hobart looked like in the 1820s. Stay at Iron Creek Bay Farm surrounded by 70 hectares of orchards where you can pick fruit or join a guided tour. Dinner is at the farm's restaurant with views toward Iron Creek Bay and Mount Wellington.

Hobart
Port Arthur Historic Site occupies your morning and early afternoon. This UNESCO World Heritage location features rolling green fields and ocean views. A historian guides you through the site while you also cruise around the Isle of the Dead and see rugged cliffs from Pirate's Bay Lookout. You'll check out Tasman's Arch, Devils Kitchen, and the Blowhole before heading into Hobart. This evening is yours to explore the cool capital's restaurants and wine bars at your own pace.

Multiple options let you choose how to spend this day. Explore Hobart's city centre on your own or with a guide, walking through gallery-lined streets and past Georgian architecture. Or visit the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery to see 800,000 objects from fossils to fine art. If you prefer wilderness, tackle Mount Wellington for alpine forest and river views, or take a cruise to spot fur seals and see Australia's highest sea cliffs around Bruny Island (at your own expense).
