This morning you'll join a local guide for a walking tour through Lima's mix of old and new. You'll check out colonial architecture and modern districts, stop by some cathedrals and convents, then head to the San Isidro financial district. The Larco Museum is on your route too. Lunch happens during the tour, so you'll get to try some local flavors while learning about the city's history.

You'll board the Vistadome train, which offers incredible views as it climbs through dramatic mountain scenery toward Machu Picchu. You'll spend the night in a hotel at Machu Picchu itself, so you have time to explore at different times of day.

Machu Picchu to Cuzco
The train takes you back to Cuzco, the former heart of the Incan empire and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on the continent. After checking in, you can explore the surrounding streets and soak in the atmosphere of this important city.

Cuzco
You'll walk Cuzco's cobblestone streets with a guide, seeing the mix of ancient Incan stonework, colonial whitewashed buildings, and grand Baroque architecture. The walk ends at Sacsayhuamán fortress above the city, famous for its enormous precisely carved stone blocks arranged in the shape of a puma's head. Weather permitting, you'll also visit a local school supported by Scenic.

Buenos Aires to Ushuaia
You'll take a transfer flight from Buenos Aires south to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world on Tierra del Fuego. After boarding your ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht, you'll toast the beginning of your expedition. The ship then cruises through the scenic Beagle Channel (named after Darwin's famous exploration ship), and you'll see dramatic Andean mountains from your private verandah or the observation deck.

Lemaire Channel
You'll navigate through Lemaire Channel, an 11-kilometer waterway that's only 700 meters wide at its narrowest point. Locals call it 'Kodak Alley' because the views are so striking. You'll see dramatic rocky mountains and glowing blue icebergs so close to the ship you can almost touch them. Between excursions, enjoy specialty tea or coffee in the Observation Lounge with views through Swarovski telescopes.

Polar Plunge
Today's the day for the polar plunge if you want to try it. The ship's marina will be set up so guests can jump into Antarctic waters. If you skip the plunge, watch from a prime viewing spot and join the jumpers afterward for hot chocolate or whiskey. You can also continue exploring by Zodiac, kayak, or paddleboard.

Return to Ushuaia
