Rome
Head to the Vatican Museums using skip-the-line access so you don't waste time in queues. You'll see the Sistine Chapel and then tour St. Peter's Basilica, one of Christianity's most important buildings. Plan to spend several hours here because there's so much to take in.

Rome to Florence
Travel by train to Florence, which takes a few hours from Rome. Once you arrive in the afternoon, you can either explore the city a bit or just head to your hotel to rest and settle in for the evening.

Florence
A walking tour takes you through Florence's Renaissance sites, starting at Piazza della Repubblica. You'll see Dante's house, the Duomo, and the Baptistery, then move to Via Tornabuoni for shopping. After crossing Ponte Vecchio into Oltrarno, you'll visit Santa Trinita Church, Pitti Palace, and the Vasari Corridor.
