Fes to Merzouga
Heading south to Merzouga puts you at the edge of Erg Chebbi's massive sand dunes. You'll ride camels across the dunes either at sunset or sunrise, depending on the timing. Overnight you stay in a traditional Berber camp where you can participate in tea ceremonies and talk with local people. The quiet of the desert and the night sky here feel worlds away from the cities.

Aït Benhaddou to Marrakech

You'll tour Bahia Palace and Majorelle Garden for a sense of how wealth and beauty are expressed here, walk around the Koutoubia Mosque, and spend time in the souks where sights, sounds, and smells of Moroccan commerce fill the narrow passageways.
