  1. Day 1

    Lemosho Glades - Mti Mkubwa

    You'll drive from Moshi or Arusha to Londorossi Gate to handle entry paperwork, then take a one-hour forest track drive to Lemosho Glades. After grabbing lunch, you'll hike through rainforest trails heading toward Mti Mkubwa campsite, where you'll stay overnight. This first day gets you acclimated to the altitude and the rhythm of trekking.

  2. Day 2

    Lemosho Glades to Shira 1

    The terrain changes as you hike out of the forest into savannah and giant heather moorland. You'll climb through rolling hills and cross several streams on your way to Shira Ridge. From there, you'll descend to Shira 1 camp, and the views of Kibo from the plateau are something you won't forget.

  3. Day 3

    Shira 1 to Shira 2

    This is a shorter day across the plateau to Shira 2 camp, which sits on moorland meadows next to a stream. You'll have chances to take optional walks around the plateau, making this perfect for letting your body adjust to the elevation. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on Earth, so the views span for miles.

  4. Day 4

    Shira 2 to Barranco Hut

    You'll hike eastward from Shira Plateau toward Kibo, passing Lava Tower (also called Shark's Tooth) and Arrow Glacier along the way. Then you'll head down to Barranco Hut for the night. There's no big elevation gain today, but this stretch matters for acclimatization before summit day.

    Barranco Hut to Barafu Camp

    After breakfast, you'll scramble to the top of Great Barranco, then traverse scree and ridges into Karanga Valley below the icefall walls of Heim, Kersten, and Decken Glaciers. You'll continue to Barafu Camp where you can see both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Rest up and prepare mentally for tomorrow.

  6. Day 6

    Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Hut

    An early start means you're hiking toward the crater rim between Rebmann and Ratzel Glaciers in the darkness. You'll reach Stella Point as the sun comes up, then push to Uhuru Peak, Tanzania's highest point. After photos and celebration, you'll descend to Barafu for lunch and rest, then continue past Millennium Camp down to Mweka Hut in the forest. Those with energy left can visit Reutsh Crater and Eastern Icefields.

  7. Day 7

    Mweka Hut to Mweka Park Gate to Moshi/Arusha

    You'll make the final descent from Mweka Hut to Mweka Park Gate where you'll receive your summit certificate. After that, it's another hour down to Mweka Village, and a vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha to recover and celebrate.
