Itinerary
- Day 1
New York City to Niagara Falls
Head out from New York City early morning and drive north through the Delaware Water Gap toward the Finger Lakes. Once you reach Watkins Glen State Park, you'll walk through the canyon to see the waterfalls and gorge trails. After that, continue on to Niagara Falls, passing Seneca Lake along the way. Spend the afternoon touring the American side with stops at American Falls, Goat Island, and Luna Island. Later, get on the Maid of the Mist boat tour right at the base of the falls. By evening, you'll watch the falls lit up with colored lights from the shore.

- Day 2
Niagara Falls to Toronto to 1000 Islands
Start the morning looking at Horseshoe Falls, then head to Niagara-on-the-Lake for a walk around the village shops and restaurants. From there, travel into Toronto and check out HTO Park along the waterfront. Next, visit Brookfield Place where the Hockey Hall of Fame is located, then see City Hall and the Distillery Historic District with its red-brick buildings and galleries. Late afternoon you'll head east from Toronto along Lake Ontario, driving toward the 1000 Islands area and arriving after dark.

- Day 3
1000 Islands to New Jersey
Take a boat cruise through the 1000 Islands on the St. Lawrence River to see the large homes and castles on private islands, including Boldt Castle and Heart Island with its distinctive shape. Return to the mainland and spend time shopping at the outlet malls in the area for brand-name stores and deals. In the evening, head south toward New Jersey for the night.

New Jersey to Philadelphia to Lancaster County to Washington DC
Leave New Jersey early and drive west through Pennsylvania to Philadelphia. Walk around the historic district to see the Liberty Bell, Constitution Square, Congress Hall, and Elfreth's Alley, which is the oldest street people have lived on continuously in the country. Climb the Rocky Steps for the view and photo. After lunch, head west to Lancaster County to experience an Amish buggy ride and look around the Amish marketplace and local shops. By evening, you'll arrive in Washington DC for the night.

- Day 5
Washington DC to New York City
See the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in the morning with the Tidal Basin and its Japanese cherry blossom trees nearby. Head to Arlington National Cemetery to visit Kennedy's grave and watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony. Move into the city to explore Capitol Hill, walking past the US Capitol building and the White House from the outside. Spend time at the Air and Space Museum and then visit the Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Korea, and Vietnam Memorials around the National Mall. Late afternoon, head back to New York for evening arrival.
