Itinerary
- Day 1New York to Niagara FallsYou'll leave New York early and head north through the Delaware Water Gap toward Watkins Glen State Park. There you'll walk through the canyon to see the waterfalls, which is a nice way to start the trip. From there, continue driving to Niagara Falls and plan to arrive by late afternoon. Once you get settled, you'll tour the US side starting with American Falls, then move through Goat Island and Luna Island. Later, board the Maid of the Mist to feel the power of the falls up close. By evening, head back to see the falls lit up with their colorful night lighting. - Meals

- Day 2Niagara Falls to 1000 IslandsBegin this morning by looking at Horseshoe Falls, then drive to the village of Niagara-on-the-Lake for a walk around. After that, head toward Toronto and spend time at HTO Park, Brookfield Place (where the Hockey Hall of Fame is located), City Hall, and The Distillery Historic District. In the evening, leave Toronto and drive east along Lake Ontario toward the 1000 Islands area. Note that if you're traveling in April, weather might send you back to Niagara Falls for the night instead. - Meals

- Day 31000 Islands to New JerseyStart early with a cruise through the 1000 Islands along the St. Lawrence River. You'll pass by houses built on private islands, including Boldt Castle and Heart Island, getting a sense of how the wealthy built their retreats here. During the afternoon, stop at one of the large outlet malls for shopping. Then continue driving toward New Jersey, arriving at your hotel in the evening after crossing back into New York state. - Meals

- Day 4New Jersey to Philadelphia to Lancaster to Washington DCLeave New Jersey and drive into Philadelphia's historic area. You'll see the Liberty Bell, walk through Independence National Park, and check out Congress Hall. Then stroll down Elfreth's Alley, which is the oldest continuously inhabited street in America. Take a panoramic tour through the financial district and along Benjamin Franklin Parkway, stopping to see the famous Rocky Steps. After that, head west to Lancaster County to experience Amish culture firsthand. You'll ride an authentic Amish buggy through farm country and browse the marketplace for handmade items. By late afternoon, depart for Washington DC, arriving in the evening. - Meals

- Day 5Washington DC to New YorkThis morning, visit the Thomas Jefferson Memorial by the Tidal Basin, where Japanese cherry blossom trees surround the area. Then go to Arlington National Cemetery to watch the changing of the guards and see the Kennedy family gravesite. Head over to Capitol Hill to see both the US Capitol and White House from outside. Next, spend time at the Air and Space Museum, and after that, visit the Lincoln, Martin Luther King, Korea, and Vietnam Memorials. By late afternoon, leave Washington and drive north, arriving back in New York in the evening. - Meals
